I remember riding that bike, it was really slow but it's still a collectable imo.

I bought a 79' XL75 about 30 years ago for my 4'9" wife to ride, it was probably in 92/100 condition and had original everything. I plated it but she didn't put over 50 miles on it. Got divorced and she sold it for $1k somebody got one heck of a low mile bike.

I had one long time ago to (was used) as well as many 2 stroke race bikes (always used) as never could afford a new one. Still got 2 strokes RM125/250 wife has a XR70R and got a big tanker DR650 - all of those bikes back in the mid-80's one could not give them away...

I need help with mine. how EXACTLY do you have you coil hooked up because I'm confused on mine. do you have the rotor going straight to the coil? I assume so. how do you have the ground hooked up? that's what I don't get. the main body of the coil is ground (I think) if so then having the coil bolted to the frame would mean it has constant ground and it would spark uncontrollably. right?

coil body where it bolts to frame should be clean bare metal. use a little sand paper to remove excess paint / rust so you can see bare metal

Igntion spark comes from "AC Generator" (Magneto) points opening and closing. Small black-white wire from Magneto goes to Coil and controls its spark timing. Motor spins, points open, coil produces high voltage to spark plug, motor keeps spinning, points close, coil stops producing high voltage to spark plug. Repeat many times per minute. One winding in Stator/Magneto/AC Generator is for Ignition/Spark only, the other copper wire winding charges the battery Positive through a Silicone Diode Rectifier and 10 amp fuse. Magneto has THREE wires outputs: 1 to headlight. 1 to Rectifier-battery. 1 to ignition Coil. Stay gold.
