1977 Mercury Grand Marquis REVIVAL After 24 Years? 460 POWER!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This 1977 Mercury has been sitting since the late '90s and is rusted nearly through in two pieces. Can we make it run and drive again? The long game here is to use this Mercury and the 1972 LTD acquired along with it in some 1970s car chase movie action. Stay Tuned!!

@@PoleBarnGarage ... Question (and your answer might be worth a stand-alone video): How did you rig up that portable fuel jug? What's the procedure? Does that trick only work with carbonated vehicles? (Most modern EFI cars have the fuel-pump in the top of the tank, which you either have to drop to access, or cut a hole in the trunk-floor to reach -- a masterpiece of planned-obsolescence design to be sure.)

That car was made at the St. Louis Assembly Plant. The same year I started working there. I may have put the front end on it. In the gas shortage of the early 1970s they started making speed odometers only go to 85 mpr. They thought it would make us drive slower. The Mo. State Patrol used those cars too.

That's very cool! Glad you are still here with us to share that story. Yes, you most likely did put the front end in that car which is cool to think about, but these cars were nothing special when new. They only were special as richy rich land yatchs that got traded in every 5 years, but they have a place in my heart... when they're clean solid cars that is. Lol.

I use to get a ride to school back in the 80's in a 1977 Mercury Grand Marquis it was a green on green 4 door car and belonged to my neighbors father and he use to drive us to school all the time and would smoke a big pipe and go to school smelling like pipe tobacco. Those were the days I could live them all over again.

Great Episode. Funny how you're getting this yacht ready for "filming." This same make, model, and year were used as John Candy's car in the cinema classic UNCLE BUCK. They used it as you first received it - beat down yet still running. He called it, "The Beast." Just change out the trunk mounted CB antenna for a 9-foot steel whip on the rear fender, paint it brown, and you'd have the twin. I like yours much better. Can't wait for further exploits with this one.
