Thanks for posting . They were great Wembley occasions back then .That one was Leeds’ day and in particular Steve Pitchford was impossible for Widnes to contain throughout the game . I wish there were more footage of his brilliant battering runs . He was good enough to come to the crowd ,shake hands and accept a home made replica cup from me during his lap of honour . Then we went to the pub . Great days .

Only just discovered John Holmes passed away in 2009. I live down under now. I used to get the same school bus as John. He married a girl i went to primary school with and his old man had a cracking fish and chip shop in Horsforth. His first wife also passed away, very sad, Great player.

Not sure there was any contact in the high tackle? Player went for unconscious to kicking the goal very quickly.
