Teifi Falls in Cenarth is an idyllic salmon river home to some ancient reminders of past industry. The 60s 70s 80s show visited a restored 14th century flour mill powered by the river and also heard from a group of skilled enthusiasts who were keeping the art of coracle making alive.

No one should leave this world taking an ancient secret with them is an admirable statement...who knows when any of us might need these skills when technology implodes and we have to rely on a hands on way of life again to survive.
Someone telling me.. ah, anybody that they're "Rowing with only one oar in the water" was once considered an insult. But, it appears, it's actually quite a handy skill!
To keep this craft alive, maybe they need an annual event. Such as a coracle race. Or a coracle festival that combines races, workshops etc

Coracles are fascinating vessels. Anyone interested should watch Irving Finkel The Ark Before Noah. From an ancient version of Gilgamesh it turns out the Ark was a coracle/kuphar

Looks like he succeeded. There’s a coracle society that runs training workshops where you can go and build your own for £350
In Ireland, we call them curachs. Made from a single cowhide and willow branches. Great documentary. Thanks for sharing 👍
Charming video. Wonderful to see that people in the 1970s were committed to preserving these crafts of warer powered milling and coracle-making and navigation. I hope that these traditions are continuing in Wales-Cymru and specifically in Cardiganshire.

I suppose the bylaw will be so that ordinary people cannot catch and sell the salmon. Only the lord upstream.
You can hear Welsh is his first language and he's not as comfortable in English.

Maybe so, but the people in this film are Welsh. Cenarth is in Wales, and they are speaking English with Welsh accents.

it's also fun to be a lodge attending yank and noone ever, anywhere manages to ever figure the part about the out. fnordy fnordy perpetrate all day and all night what a load of fun. brilliant.
