So sad. Can't we appreciate that Nelli, Nadia, Lyudima, Olga and all were great gymnasts. No wonder we have wars. THe pressure on those poor girls - talented young ladies.

Nellie Kim's uneven bar routines vary greatly from one Olympics to the next. It may not have been her best event but its great that she wasn't hesitant to try new things.

In some respects, Nadia's performances was even more impressive when she was 13 at the1975 European championship, Nadia won the all-around, the beam, the vault, the parallel bars, and took 2nd in the floor, the only event she didn't win outright. In other words, she won 4 of the 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal. .

+Kevin Jewell @ 13:58 though, Nadia's supremely difficult BB that score a 10.0. Her BB routine made everyone else look like compulsories. A must deserved 10.0 like all of the UB optionals. Nadia did an front aerial(D rated today), a aerial cartwheel to a flip flop(D and connection), she back over to TWO very quick back hand springs. And a double full dismount. Nadia essentially did more difficulty on her BB routine than than all AA contenders combined.

You are so envious. If somebody could thieve Nadia, a girl from Romania, in a gymnastics world dominated by Russia, they would make it! But she was so good and talented, and simply perfect on her routine, that nobody could make an objection. So, if corbut would make a half so good as Nadia did, she would become the gold, but she didn‘t. The ladies from Russia in the jury had tried it for sure. But not against the evidence: that Nadia was perfect!

  • @simozimo09

Nadia a horrible vaulter? She was the European vault champion en-titre in Montreal, ahead of Nellie Kim who got bronze. She won the continental title again in 1979, and she got silver in 1977. At the 1978 Worlds Nadia got silver :-D As for floor, Nadia got bronze at the 1976 Olympics, with a watered down routine because of her ankle problem. She became Olympic champion on floor in 1980 (tied with Nellie Kim who was competing at home, for the clearly over-scored soviet team) and European champion in 1979. She got silver in 1975 at the European championships. But what it's really sad, it's the bitterness and lack of fair play from Nellie Kim when talking about her rivalry with Nadia. She got her revenge later as a head judge in big competitions, by systematically under scoring the romanian team. She was even suspended for cheating and fixing scores in 1990 by FIG.

Lawrence Alexander Lol oh I get what you mean when it comes to colors and designs; I think in the last 15+ years I've seen maybe 3 or 4 that I actually thought were pretty and attractive. Most of them look like they belong on a stage in Vegas. But what I was really referring to was the fabric they're made of. In my day (the Dark Ages) lycra hadn't been invented yet. They were made of a cheap, polyester knit that would sag and bag on you and look about as flattering as old-fashioned underwear. You might look at some footage of Olga Korbut to see what I mean. She was so tiny that they simply didn't have one small enough to fit her. She looked like she was dressed in a potato sack.
