The bike every teenage boy dreamed of in the 70's - and nostalgia brings us back to look at it and hear it once again.

I am 40 years old at the writing of this post. My dad had I believe a 76 because it had the same badging as this one but it was in the metallic orange color. It sat in my garage as a kid my whole life. When my parents spit up, it went into storage. To make a long story short, after my dad passed we lost everything in that storage. The bike along with many other things are gone forever. To this day remembering that bike and the one time my dad took me down the street on it at like 7 years old makes me want it. Now older and realizing how important of a bike this is and what little mods you can do to it to make it more for your liking makes me want it even more. I don’t know how to ride. I need to get my license, learn and buy one of these bikes. It has been a dream of mine for decades. Thanks for this video. Makes me smile.

With that bitter memory of losing the opportunity to own and ride your dad's bike, I recommend you take the motorcycle course and make new memories. There are now new bikes with vintage look but new tech that make it even more exciting.

In 1989, a very good friend of mine had a honda 400 that looked identical to this. I am not sure of the model or year, but it was a pleasure to ride around town, and i am sure that this larger bike was an absolute thrill to ride. When I was 14 I wanted a bike very badly, my overprotective mother would not hear of it, the kids who could ride a bike to school were, in my opinion, the coolest people ever.

Only thing wrong with this bIke is it’s not a Kawasaki Z1. My best friend had one and he thought he was king of the hill till I showed up on a Z1. Seriously thou, very nice looking CB. I still got my 75’ Z1b in my garage. It’s in great shape, but I want to do a complete restore to make it as mint as yours. Both bikes prices just keep going up and up. In the last 20 years I’ve seen mine appreciate 500%.

Simply put.....The best motors Honda ever made in the world. No engine is so reliable like these ever. They designed them so well that I would not be surprised if the oil would be 25 years old, she will start right up. This is a real beauty.

I learned to ride on my father's 1972 Honda CB350. Then graduated to the 1984 magna V30. Last bike was a 1400 Intruder. The big V-twin shook so much compared to Honda's inline and V-4 engines. I mean at idle I couldn't see using my mirrors. The Hondas? My father did the cigarette trick. He put a cig on the gas tank on end and revved the bike and it never fell off. Honda always made the best bikes, in almost every generation. They make the best generators too. I'll get back on 2 wheels again someday. Just waiting for my kids to move on as I'm a single father and can't afford going down on one right now.

My uncle bought a bluish green 73' CB750 when he got out of the Army in 73'. He put a sissy bar, highway pegs, took the baffles out of the pipes, had a dog bones kit and higher bars, put 6" slug kit in the forks and modified the front brake cylinder to make the front brake stop better. Man I thought that thing was so cool and it sounded like a demon with the baffles out.

I rode one of the first year models w/ the dual throttle cables ('73) and loved that bike. Fast, agile for its size and great mileage when you just cruised; I could get easily 70-80 MPG w/ mine. I did a little port work on the carbs, just smoothed off the rough edges and casting bumps, and that bike would get up and go. Great first bike or daily driver for any enthusiast.

I had a 72 and it was my first and only bike, Scared the crap out of me a couple of times. There was a place in the power band that when the rpm's got there it was like a turbo kicking in and it would fly. I owned it for 3 years, I got up one morning and said to myself, I haven't scratched the bike and it hasn't scratched me so I sold it. I was married with two small children so I knew it was the right thing to do but I have missed that bike ever since.

bob meadows - Did you ever ride a Kawasaki 750 2 stroke triple back then? Now THAT bike was peaky and scary as hell to ride. Didn’t handle worth a crap and the power band would pull the front end without warning. It was truly a terrifying machine.

I was little squirt I saw my first one. Four in line across. Looked huge. I was probably 11. Great engineering. It's funny to see the transition from little tiny early 60s motorcycles to today's behemoths. Those bikes in the 60 could go damn good too. They were real motorcycles. Whereas today's fairing windshield bikes are just two wheeled cars. Not all but most. I like the wind in my face at 100. Just mess'n. Really I am. LOL

Had a buddy who owned one of them. I rode it several times. It had plenty of power in the low end, but it had a sweet Jesus spot in the power band. When you hit that sweet spot, you had better be holding on tight or it would leave you sitting in mid air while the bike was headed down the road without you! First bike that ever scared me! It was really that fast!

  • @DoctorAkikoFukuwara

    @DoctorAkikoFukuwara

    4 жыл бұрын

@Big Al Japanese patriotism aside haha My Street Bob is getting old now and to be honest I am getting real sick of Harley churning out the same type of ancient old bike slapping $35k price tags on them. It just shows a lack of passion, almost as if the guys at HD feel they could take a shit in a jar but so long as they put the iconic HD logo on there someone will buy it. I am now based in Glasgow, Scotland which has a huge Harley flagship dealership and I have test ridden upwards of 10 "new" models and bar a few tweaks, its the same old bike. That Yamaha however was a revelation. The controls felt solid and well made, the brakes felt good not the usual Harley jar tops. That Yamaha 1900cc power plant has so much power and torque. I am a bike customiser and bobber, I cant wait to strip the Yamaha down to a bobber and feel the pure torque and power from it and know that the Yamaha factory build quality of the motor, clutch and forward controls are world class and reliable. Its a pure Harley killer.

In 2014 I purchased a 1975 CB 750 from a man who bought the bike originally from a local Honda dealer... It also had these Japanese white hard cases on the back that were quite rare.. I rode it home about 10 miles and then rode it one other time about 12 miles... In the beginning of 2015, while I was out of the country, my house burned down completely destroying the Honda, a Kawasaki Versys, and a 1968 BMW R50... Luckily my Ural 2 wheel drive Patrol with a sidecar was outside so wasn't destroyed...pretty depressing, but at least I wasn't sleeping in the bedroom at the time or I wouldn't be writing this today....

Beautiful bike, brings back a lot memories. I remember reading “super bike” comparisons in magazines around 1970 I think. As I recall the comparison was between a CB 750, a BSA 750 (or maybe a 650?), a Harley, a Suzuki 750 triple, and I believe a Norton. I remember vividly how hard they tried to get the bikes into the 12’s in the qtr! Of course, many of them (like the Harley) couldn’t come close. Good memories.

This was my first bike....I loved it. I am 59 now and I got it when I was 21 years old. I like the bike so much I got a 2018 Triumph Bonneville. The bike is just like the Honda and I remember how nice the bike shifted. How much did you sell the bike for. I really like your bike. You kept it very nice. My Honda had 9000 miles on it when I sold it. I got 200 Dollars for it.

Bought one same color in 78.for $1800. I put 5k miles on it in less than a year. It never ran just right about 95 was top speed. The Honda shop told me it was ok just needed breaking in! I Got married and had to sell it. The guy I sold it to carried it to another Honda dealership they did a compression check and one cylinder had only 4& lbs. of compression. It came from the factory with bad valve they fixed it and the guy said it would do a 130 easy . Never the less my Honda shop got a good talking to!

Yup back in the day, the big boy of bikes. Such great great memories of the 70`s. sigh...... Enduro 250CC bikes were very popular to at the time in So. Calif. So much so even AMX/Harley put out a 250CC. I want that time machine to Uncle Rico. I have to go back for a red/black `69 Roadrunner 440 4spd. and cruise in it back then. Guaranteed street muscle car races at every other stoplight. I F/U not getting a Roadrunner back then. A top three life regret. Then again maybe I woulda got killed. I drove like a maniac with performance cars. ?

In the 80's and 90's there were tons of low mileage CB750s for sale in the classifieds. Usually they had sat for years without being started and needed the carbs taken apart and cleaned and the jets unclogged but other than that you could get a solid, reliable motorcycle for very little money.
