One of the things that Cindy and I had always wanted to do as a part of breathing new life into Jane's old iron, was to give her a set of new shoes. While what she had was still new and looked good enough, what we really wanted was for her to be running something a bit more aggressive like a good set mud terrains. Unfortunately, life had a way of getting in the way and so, that was something that had to be put on the back burner or at least, until now. In this BONUS episode of CALAMITY JANE, you'll get to see her getting a brand new set of 31x10.50, Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tires installed on her original, 1974 CJ-5 Renegade, aluminum mag wheels. And, if you haven't seen pics of them already, you'll also get to see what she looks like now, complete with all her factory decals and emblems installed. We hope you enjoy.

    Gotta respect the old metal and new! I currently have three generations of Jeep. Starting with 1968 J-3500 with a Buick 430 swap, a 1981 CJ-7 fully custom rock crawler sporting a 1986 corvette L98 TPI 383 stroker and finally a rather modified 2010 JKU. All of which command a certain amount of respect. Not limiting yourself to one generation Jeep really gives you a respect and appreciation for all Jeeps and 4x4's as a whole.

    I love your CJ-5! I have a '66 CJ-5A. Not nearly as nice as yours. Do you know what is different on the tubs compared to your generation CJ-5 and the ones from the 60s? Poison Spyder only makes the sliders for 1976-1986. Did they change the body that much that they wont fit on a 60s CJ-5?I know the exhaust is different. Mine comes out right in front of the rear tires.

  • @wayalife

    @wayalife

    5 жыл бұрын

    Early CJ-5's like what you have are shorter. If I recall, from the tub to the front of the fenders is something like 4" shorter. This is why their rocker guards will not work. There are other companies that do make rocker guards that would fit though.

    Nice clean 74 CJ. I've had my 73 CJ for 50 yrs. now (original owner) & restored it around the turn of the century. I managed to locate some OEM Renegade aluminum wheels which are 7" wide & I run 33x9.50 BFG ATs. Question: I noticed you replaced your BFGs with 31x10.50 Coops. Are your slot wheels 7" or 8" wide? I always thought the rule of thumb was a tire no wider than 2" over the rim width.....

    Sorry one more question. Does Rusty go off road? We used the Jeep for the snow in the Late 70's to early 80's Thanks Eddie!
