I brought one the same colour in the 90s for 250 nz dollars. The guy thort the big ends were gone but it was was the starter mechanism i removed the chain. It had no forks as he put them on a triumph. I had 3 of them so I swapped forks and it ran sweet. Awesome bike.

Bought one in 1973. Departed East Bay in California for Pittsburgh, PA in August. Noticed oil on my pant legs after crossing the Bonneville Salt Flats.

I bought one new. Had it for several years. Sold it because i got heavy into dirt bikes. The only problem i had was the head gasket leaking oil. So i replaced that and at the same time polished the fins. Other than that, it was a great bike.

Right after I got out of the Navy in 1975 I moved into an apartment my brother just moved out of. It was an old farm house and he rented an out building. A friend of his parked his 750 Yamaha in there and told me I could use it afternoon as he worked evenings as a local cop. I took it out on a nice four lane Connecticut Rt 2 and opened it up. Just as I was starting to slow down I got caught in the speed trap. I was clocked at 87. The bike had a problem in that it had to be on level or leaning into the stand otherwise it’s go over. The state trooper was adamant I get off the bike along his newer cruiser. I did and it tipped and put a dent in his door. He helped me wheel it back behind his cruiser. I didn’t have a clue where the registration was bit I told him a Norwich city cop owned it. They were able to get touch with him. He wrote me a ticket for speeding but he didn’t write me a ticket for not having a motorcycle license. I told him I had a 1972 Honda 350CL and just got out of the service a week before. The state I was stationed in didn’t require a motorcycle license.

I've never actually seen one of these I'm guessing they weren't imported into the UK.

They were a nice looking bike its too bad that engine wasn't so great.

The tx750 is a beautiful bike, unfortunately the engine design wasn’t great. Oiling issues, chain drive balancer, and the exhaust balancer all made it a problem bike. However, it’s rare and because of that, I love it!

That is so weird, that twin almost sounds like a Triumph Trident 750 triple.

I believe it's because of the triplex chain and the balancer.

TX 750 was the worst Yamaha 70s…ALL engine was broken ( oïl circuit PB ), soon or later , take care, don’t move with this bike 😬🥵😖

Yep, the first A models usually blew up during the Warranty period! Yamaha fixed all the problems with the next year's B model. It was very reliable, if not that fast. But the bike had got such a bad reputation dealers could not sell them! It disappeared after only 2-years production. A B-model runner is rare and is a collector's item nowadays.
