My now deceased mother took me to the Forty Niner's 1973 preseason open house at Candlestick. I got to meet and shake hands with Larry Schreiber, John Isenberger and punter Jim McCann, and almost got to ride in the helmet cart. Thanks Ma! Miss you.

This is the season I became a Rams fan. The more I see these videos the more respect I have for Cullen Bryant. I had thought that Marlin McKeever was the last "two-way" player, but Cullen must have that honor. RIP big man. Gone way too soon.

True, but Hadl threw 22 TDs (second in the league) in just 135 completions. An amazing 8.5% TD pct, which led the league. Jackson caught 13 of those, to also lead the league. Another thing here is the showcasing of two very good kickers in Ray and Gossett. Ray led the NFC in scoring this season and Gossett was a Topps All-Pro.

I loved Chuck Knox--he took a sad sack Buffalo Bills team in 1978 that had had a 1-13 record and took them to the AFC East Championship in 1980. He had a patchwork of talent that he had to essentially build on his own. I always felt that if he had come along 10 years later to Buffalo and had a GM like Bill Polian giving him players like Kelly, Thomas, Smith etc he would have won several of those Super Bowls that that overrated Marv Levy couldn't
