1972 OTACO Bazooo 6x6 can we get it to run and drive again?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video we find an old 1972 OTACO Bazooo 6 wheeler with a 2 stroke engine that is stuck and hasn't run in years and see if we can get it to run and drive again. I can't say I know much about it but it's similar to an Argo 6x6
Want to add Greg Turnbo sent me a link on a restored one of these Bazooo's you can check it out here

I was able to find a VERY limited amount of documentation about this thing after some googling! What you have is an OTACO Bazooo. It is a VERY limited production product and theres only a couple dozen known to exist. It seems the traveler/scout paint on it was done after the fact to mimic an IH Scout. They were made in 1971 and '72, I couldnt find any production numbers but theres maybe a half-dozen of them I can find on the internet. The engine is a CCW (Canadian Curtis Wright ((yes, that Wright))), it was either a 240 or a 290cc. The OTACO brand changed hands a lot, hence the Bazoo only being made in '71 and '72. You are correct, it is supposed to be watertight and float like an Argo.

I'm lookin' at that thing thinking deleting the 6x6 and putting some fully suspended tracks on it instead would be fun as hell. Forgo the amphibious part entirely.

THAT is exactly the sort of thing the Banana Splits fellas would have driven!
This was made in the city I live in . Otaco was a big industry in this city ( ORILLIA )or many , many year. They even built toys, and was a major employer in the city I’ve been watching you for a long time. Wild to see you working on something from my hometown

It's awesome small would 😊 really . Well I grow up in Lake Dalrymple lol so I know Orillia well . Now am in washago but I thought it was cool too ,see that . Soon as seen it I was like I know what that is lol I actually drove one about 10 years ago and yes it's a crazy set up . Thanks , Matt.
Big kid as my mom would say , Thanks for the entertainment Brent ,
The wife's going to take that away. Because you are having to much fun 😅
I'm convinced that there is nothing you can not make run, my friend!!
One thing I like about Brent, when he start a project he runs till its done. There's nothing worse than watching a build and it gets shelved halfway through (Bad Chad).
@jimcollins3411

Yes i agree and the only reason i follow Bad Chad is just to see how bad he fouls up and makes up a fake reason he did something because his brain told him to . I was a teenager in the 50s and have already forgot more about the cars of that era than Chad will ever know . Love Brents work and knowing he will not just give up and walk off never caring if the watchers wanted to see the finish . If i laugh here it's for something funny like playing with that 6x6 not something done stupid like Bad Chad projects .

Agreed! You're never too old to be 12.
Nice weather to run WT (Weird Thing) ohhhh you stuck in the snow 😅😅😅
Made in Orillia , about 70 miles up from Toronto . The Ottaco building was the home of one of Canadas first autos and has produced many things since its humble beginnings . Called the sunshine city its home to many notable people . Its also just another 40 miles south of Bracebridge , home of yours truly . You now qualify as a Ottaco mechanic and probably own one of the last one in existance of there six wheeled things . I really enjoyed the video , LMAO all the way through , Well thats that Take care stay well Stuart in Ontario .........
Like a kid on a carnival ride! After you finally got it running and driving. Love the Pablo talking. You should have more of that.
Cool snow cat. 😊
Looks like whoever designed that engine had a nightmare then decided to build it 😂 Good stuff Brent, cheers.

That engine is a snowmobile engine looks like a 440 ski doo engine from the 1970's
I really admire your perseverance and depth of knowledge with random old equipment.
Minty ! Thank You for sharing your video, and letting us hang out . Later ...
Agreat revival of a vintage motor! Thanks for sharing.
The air compressor was jealous. You are toiling over that motor and it just wanted to show you, "SEE, I WORK JUST FINE"!!!!!
Watching you get old engines running again reminds me of Frankenstein movies.......HE'S ALIVE!!!!HA HA HA.....I've done it!
I think I know why I’ve never seen these things before. The two stroke engine sounds good (finally). It would make a great machine for the woods maybe when the snow melts. As always, entertainment at its finest. Thanks Brent.

Pablo said it all! You've had your fun.Joe
A great video that shows........never give up!!!!!!
After all that work it was good to see you having lots of fun going doughnuts, pirouettes and just darn enjoying yourself in a 51 year old toy.
Fun video Brent.A bit of fore and ice there.Take it out on your hunt for swamp donkeys.
I’m a snowmobile mechanic in Brandon yelling at my phone! Lol all the parts you need to get that running are just down the road at sun and snow in portage! Anybody who deals sun and snow can have you the parts overnight. The bottom fitting on the carb can be replaced with a spin on tillitson spin on filter.
Your attitude to everything is what challenges me to keep working on stuff even when it isn't going well. Thanks Brent.
Six wheels of fun for sure. It's a cool little rig. I never had a doubt that you would get it running. Thanks for the video. 👍
CCW engines were used in Articat snowmobiles.
The smile says it all!😎

Pablo ~ No way in hell I’m getting in that noisy contraption. Not even for all the Milk Bones in the world!✌🏻😂
Too much fun! Thanks
Wow, I can't believe all of the good junk I mean treasure in the fields and woods around your area.
I remember seeing those machines in popular mechanics i believe when i was young, probably when it was new it was a great to use. Well done reviving it and bringing it back to life
There can't be very many of these things left. It is definitely a worthwhile project for someone that is interested in it.
You can do anything. Thanks for sharing. Hope you had a happy Easter.
Sounds heathy Thanks for sharing Great to hear it back from the dead
Now that was fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
I never thought they would ride good at all..LOL..😅😅😅..You got it going though..Great Video.
Awesome project!
Boy,you really put a lot into that little motor .You must like that antique a lot.😊
Hey Brent! A fun project for sure. The basic’s are there just needs a little more tender love and care. Great job!!😀😀
Pablo watching you doing double U'eys = Dads nuts if he thinks I am getting on that animal. Loads of fun.
That was alot of work someone will enjoy it

Hello Brent, great fun, still smiling. Thanks for brightening this day. Be good and stay safe. 👍
“Dad, what the heck you doin’ in the shop? This what happens when we not around to watch over you?” 👅🐾🐾
Really cool to see this revival, many many years ago I had a jiger, identical to yours. Used it for duck hunting. Brought back a lot of memories.
Pretty unique rig you got there👍
You got this going!!! One ride Pablo turned down...
Like a big kid at Christmas 😂😂😂👍
This IS mechanic.water..junk ..rust..and have fun.thank you.nice music as Always
A Bazoo 6x6 very rare ! CCW means counter clock wise rotation engine.👍😉✌
That was certainly different!! Surprised that with the age and the rarity of it that you were able to find parts. Great job of persevering with the ignition!!
Oh boy yes!!
.....I kept hollering at you to. "Clean the carburetor", but you couldn't hear me.
That thing flies! I cant help but sing the "Banana Splits" TV show theme.
That's an interesting rig. Thanks for the video Brent 🐾🍺 According to the interweb CCW is a Canadian outfit that made snowmobile engines.
Good work. When it first ran it sounded like the starter was still engaged. Way to hang in there, most folks would have pushed it back into the snow.
Fun buggy. It drives just like a track vehicle but has tires instead for locomotion in water. I admire you sir for your knowledge and patience.
I have never seen this machine or that engine before. I love seeing things that I have never seen before, and learning something new. Good find.
There’s nothing you can’t do. It’s going to need more work. At least you did donuts in it. Was different for you! Thanks for sharing! 💯
Hey Brent, even Pablo didn't trust that thing much and you were like a kid with a new toy! Happy Easter to you family and dogs! Here from São Paulo - Brazil
That CCW is a kick ASS Moter it's probably a 440 cc Back in the early 70's their were 1000 manufacturers building Snow ❄ MOBILES and they all used that Moter except Ski doo they made their own
I give you credit that took perseverance!!!! Brutal ignition problems!!! Congratulations!!!
First time seeing your channel it will not be my last. This is what utube was meant to be. When you had to keep pulling the engine out I thought wow what next but you pulled it off Good Job and I really loved the JOY RIDE Great truck BTW
CCW stands for Canadian Curtis Wright but you probably know that by now.
She's a runner!
Awesome 👌
You have a lot more patience than me and I have , thanks!!!
Great video. I'm glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Well at least you got to have some fun with it, after working on it and solving all the problems there were. It is pretty out dated now compared to quads and bigger dump bed enclosed 6 wheelers. I thought for sure Pablo was going to get it, but he didn't see as a fun ride and something he could get killed in. And it stopped smoking at the end of the video, which was very educational working on smaller engines. Take care my friend
That's funny as hell! Brent had to drive his telehandler on the road while carrying that 6x6 to get to his house...lmao
Well, that was a surprise. Nice change of pace. You had that video hanging around awhile look at the ‘37 you didn’t even do the trunk lid yet😅
That was a fun project. Ryder will love that thing. Y'all can have fun for days on that! Enjoy!
Quite the unit well you got it to run and go .Well done sir Brent thank you
When I was a kid, one of my neighbors had a 6 whl Tera Tiger. Damn that thing was fun! About 69' or 70'
That looks like a ball to drive! Nice rescue! Mike c
Quite the machine. Tillotson carbs are the bane of existance to many. The broken spigot is the fuel pump. Mikuni pump helped, but likely the carb needs the crankcase impulse to start. My best suggestion is make an adaptor and stuff a mikuni on it. Makes me want to get my cushman lobster going. Also not many of them around. Pablo wasnt having any part of it😂

Tillotson carb, pick it up and throw it in the woods, then pick it up again and throw it farther.
Definitely pretty Neat Brent Might need to go to a museum
Thanks for sharing 👍😀
you are having way to much fun with this and that is the point. You fix it, you get to play with it.
Well. that was a nice little diversion. Looks like fun. Thanks for the video!
Thanks Brent for the Easter special video. That was awesome. Take care.
No challenge to big or too small , you fix them all. great little toy.
The engine looks like the engine from the Trabant 601 from the GDR 600 cubic centimeters 26 hp 2 cylinders. The Trabant was the most popular car in the GDR and is now a coveted classic car
Simply grand!
Yeah that was pretty cool. Took a long time to get parts for it. It's you probably got the only one that's running. I tried looking it up online. There was one brochure that I sent you but it was on eBay but yeah Pablo's saying no you're not getting me on that but no interesting somebody's going to have fun with it down the road. 👍👍🙂🇨🇦
That looked like fun!! Pablo is a smart dog!! lol
The US army had the same thing called unimogs, several companies sold them but not for very long, nice job getting that one going, I'm shocked that you can get parts, great work Brent
Love your videos and you are awesome love your content I like how you get just any old thing going again but what I like the most is everytime you laugh I have to laugh thanks for that
Really enjoyed this episode Brent! Nice to mix it up from the main project. Cheers mate 🎉
That's a crazy but fun looking little 6x. Sounds like there's been a bit of information discovered about it below. Look forward to seeing what you do with it. Be safe and stay well.
What a cool little critter. Did a ton of work to get it running. But keep up the great work
