1972 Haushahn inclined elevator - Stuttgart, Germany

Ғылым және технология

Located in a residential building so the location will remain undisclosed. The building is situated at hillside which explains the inclined elevator in this building. It is still complete and original and it accelerates and brakes fast enough so its recommend to hold up to the handrail. The cab is windowless and there is no sign that tells this is an inclined elevator. You can see it though when the cab arrives.

Vor sechs Jahren war ich zum ersten Mal an diesem Aufzug. Es freut mich sehr, dass es ihn noch gibt.

If I understand it correctly it’s conceptually a funicular type of design. The architect had a cool and funny idea for a building.

if I go by the wiki type of definiton, a funicular is a system operated by two counterbalanced elevator cabins while an inclined elevator is the single classic cabin. I remember someone uploaded a video where the uploader ranted about people calling an inclined elevator a funicular. Although Beno actually calls them a funicular aswell. Oxford dictionary doesn't even know the term "inclined elevator" and uses the word "funicular" basically for every elevator that goes up and down a slope by means of a moving cable. After all, seems that both terms do the trick 😉 EDIT: To add confusion to this, how would you call a hydraulic inclined elevator then? We have a lot of these in Hamburg.

@@PostTower Good question. For a lack of a better term I would simply call it an hydraulic funicular.

Has it always had innerdoors? But damn it's a rarity!!

It always had. I don't think that inclibed elevators without inner doors are a thing...
