Blass was incredible. He would repeat it again in game seven. Steve Blass was a world series hero.

Baltimore had four 20 game winners on that 71 staff but it was Blass who was outstanding as well as Nelson Briles with a brilliant two hit shutout in game five.

@@stevea6816 absolutely. Stargell did not hit much in that series. Clemente hit and hit hard. Bob Robertson also contributed two Homer's including a three run opposite field Homer on a missed bunt sign which pretty much closed out game 3.

He should have been voted World Series co-MVP with Clemente.

It's amazing how quickly the pitchers worked backed then. They get the ball from the catcher and 2 seconds later they are starting their wind up. Not like today's pitchers who take 1 or 2 minutes in between pitches.

Dont think I've ever heard after all these years why NBC didn't want Prince to use his customary home run call.

Baseball has changed so much for 5he worse.since Manfred. Selig was bad w interleague but now, its trashed. The game is not relaxing anymore. Its rushed, and not interesting w a stuoid clock, limited pick.offs. Nl al overlap, ...dumb sudden death crap xtra innings. But worst, theSinful painted on the field, and support for liberal polotical groups. Cannot go in good conscince to games anymore.
