Baseball has gotten so ridiculous I stopped watching it years ago; watching games from my childhood -- real baseball -- is a real treat. Thank you, Phenia Films for posting them.

Frank Robinson was, hands down, the best who ever wore an Orioles uniform. Ripken doesn't even come close. Brooks is deservedly a fan favorite, but Frank hit 586 home runs in an era when pitching was dominant. It boggles the mind what kind of numbers he would put up today. He was a fierce competitor who hug close to the plate and challenged pitchers. Tough dude. I'm obviously an Orioles fan, but props to Clemente, one of the best who ever played the game.

Eddie Murray is my all time favorite O, also a better ball player than Cal. The trade of Murray was, is and forever will be the worst trade the organization ever made. I never saw Frank play but I’ll take your word. Stats don’t lie.

Thank you for your Clemente compliment. I am from Puerto Rico. Frank Robinson would play and manage at the same time @ winter league in Puerto Rico for Santurce with Elrod Hendricks catching and would rival Clemente who would play for San Juan with Sanguillen catching. I went to many games. Ask any Puerto Rican from that era about Frank Robinson, and they will tell you he was a favorite. Other Pirates who played for San Juan were Stargell, Pagan, Dock Ellis, Milt May, Davalillo. From Baltimore Cuéllar was another favorite who played for Santurce. Good times indeed!

Tony Kubek, my all time favorite analyst (sorry Madden). T.K. is as logical as they come. He never gives you anything he hasn't completely thought through. Whether its with Gowdy or Costas or Garigarola, Kubek never had a tenency to over analyze or talk over the þcasual fans head. So, whþen Kubek went with 5e was right. my childhood was spectacular, it was all about Saturday, 2pm on NBC, The Game of the Week.

Connections with players etc. spanning 4 World Series over 23 years who are mentioned in this broadcast. Clemente 1960-'71, Stargell 1971-79, Weaver 1971-79, Sanguillen 1971-79, Belanger 1971-79, Mazeroski 1960-71 and Lowenstein (mentioned in bottom of 4th inn.) 1979-83

My first memory as a baseball fan was the 1979 World Series. My beloved and still beloved Orioles were up 3 games to 1, then we collapsed and lost the World Series. We lost to the Bucs in '71 & '79 both gut wrenching, but both years the Pirates had outstanding ball clubs. Also this was Roberto Clemente last games before his untimely death in a plane crash, what an absolute legend of a player, if someone had to beat by Orioles at least it was a team with Roberto Clemente on it.

The Baltimore Orioles had great pitching rotation during this time... 3 -20 game winners they were the overwhelming favorite... The Atlanta braves rotation I would say was somewhat similar with glavine, Maddox, and smoltz...

He retired as it turned out for just one season in the offseason following this series, came back for 1973 thru ‘76, dying at age 59 in December following that 1976 season. Why in the hellck is he not in the BASEBALL HALL OF FAME= TWO WORLD TITLES, a .540 winning percentage, over 2000 games managed, TWO NL PENNANTS, double digit 88-plus or 90 games winning seasons including one in a 154 game season, four NLCS appearances, a like number of NL EAST PENNANTS and five postseason spots all for a managerial career with only one team from 1957-‘64, ‘67, ‘70& 71, ‘73-76= 15 seasons…WHY??? Outside of CLEMENTE, STARGELL, SANGUILLEN, and DICK GROAT, who did he have as an offense bringing JUGGERNAUT; keep in mind GROAT never played on the same teams as SANGUILLEN or STARGELL.. And, what HALL guys did he have pitching as starters and relievers? GIUSTI, FACE, VERN LAW, BLASS, ELLIS, FRIEND? who of those lasted for ten or more seasons of excellence on their mound= HALL ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT? Try NONE OF THEM. He was ONE OF THE BEST SKIPPERS OF ALL TIME. Clemente and MAZEROSKI were his only 1960 HALL GUYS.. a fading fast MAZ, CLEMENTE AND STARGELL WERE his only 1960’s&70’s HALL GUYS. Dave Parker was just coming up..and he is not in the HALL, anyway. I am not a PIRATES fan, at all, but you tell me. Before he got to manage PITT, THEY NEVER WON. You have to go back to the 1920’s.. MURTAUGH needs to be in the HALL.. Good grief!!
