your average run of the mill D1 college team today, would run up the score , no prob against your best NFL team of 50 years ago.

@@bconni2 Hardly. The Steelers, Dolphins, Raiders or Cowboys of those days would annihilate any modern D1 team and most any modern NFL team. Those were teams that knew and practiced the fundamentals of the game, at every level. Something sorely lacking in the modern version of today's Lingerie Leagues. Basic things like tackling, blocking and team play, especially on D, would reduce most modern offenses to a squirt. I can also easily imagine an Alan Page, Bob Lilly or Joe Greene blowing past a fat 340lb guard and sacking a QB in 5-6 steps, several times a game. It was brutal and beautiful piece of art back then. Today, it is a plastic, Maddenized shell of it's former self. all driven by ego, money, social media and players who cry when they twist an ankle. It is now the MFL. The Metrosexual Football League.

if you were a kid in the 70s you have to love that music that played in the background when you watched this week in the NFL show...it brings back fond memories that hits you right in the hart.

beautiful and proud RFK stadium - so many great memories, so many great games...pretty soon videos like this will be the only place you can see it in all it's glory, it's slated for demolition sometime in 2023. When it's gone, 30 years of Redskins history, Redskins glory and Redskins legacy will be but a pile of rubble

The KC-DC tilt from that season was a classic. Hopefully a remastering of that film is in the works. In the meantime thanks for this one

Oilers weren't good enough to beat them, but that massive D-line they had gave the Redskins all they could handle. Oilers offense couldn't get it done. Last year for Houston to sport silver helmets. I liked this Oiler uni the best.

Not many give credit to Lombardi for bringing the 1st winning season since 1955, and would have done more had it not been for the cancer. George Allen was a great coach, but Lombardi got the winning tradition back.

George Allen's first season with the Redskins and would become the winningest head coach in Redskins history....until Joe Gibbs came along

George Allen really did turn it around and built off what Lombardi did. Prior to Lombardi getting there in 1969, the Redskins were just mediocre then Lombardi got them a winning record, but sadly cancer got him. George Allen was able to build on Lombardi's improvement and got the team to the playoffs for the first time ever in the Super Bowl era. The next year they went to a Super Bowl and were a continual playoff team.

as a lifelong Los Angeles Rams fan , it broke my heart to lose Allen to the Skins. he turned the Rams into a legit contender.

Knight's best day, going 5-6 on FGs. Oddly enough, 9 years later against the Saints, Moseley would go 5-6 for the Skins. Snapping a 4-14 slump he had early in the season.
