    Got to drive a dark green Dodge Challenger, I think it was either 70 or 71' in 1979. My Uncle had a Construction company and one of the ladies owned the car. They wanted me to gas it up in the rear where we fueled the trucks. It was a hassle so I offered to take it down the road to the local gas station, no luck. Just the parking lot! I said "but Unc, I won't go too fast, I will drive carefully!". His answer was, "yeah, I am SURE you will". I guess he didn't believe me? Was it that gleem in my eye and the fact that I had been driving a Rambler Marlin, 1965 that had a modulator problem and wouldn't get past 2nd gear(auto) and when driving it down the highway my best was about 58MPH? Maybe he thought I was a little too eager for a teen still in HS? Oh well, best drive ever under 1 mile. What a car! That sound, mean, lean and Fords and Chevy's both lived in fear with her around!

    The best cornering muscle car from Dodge was probably the 70 Challenger T/A 340/6 or a 340 Dart, Demon, or Duster. None of those big block muscle cars handled very well. The 340 small block cars could take a corner way better

    Yep Jerry,,that 325 hp of the 440-6 was a winner--7 mpg, and slower then a 2020 Dodge 5.7 V-8 at 375 hp.....LOL...

  • @ToyKingWonder

    @ToyKingWonder

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@chadhaire1711 The six packs were 390hp. Conservatively rated for insurance purposes. Adding a windage tray, electronic ignition, and headers with decent mufflers could add another 30+ horsepower. Kick it up with stage four heads, which are simple bolt-ons, and you are pushing close to 500, if not more. This is before we even get into carburetors and cams. You are comparing 1971 technology to modern Mopars 40 years later. and then find some sort of humor in the fact that performance and economy has improved over that time. Yea, that's LOL alright. For the time, and even today, these cars get up and move. The big block motors certainly were winners, at the race track, doing quarter miles, and have the kind of torque that could move a huge trailer or any other load. They sold in the 10s of thousands. Every single part for the motors is available today. The 383/440 were regarded amongst the best engines of the time period--and are still reliable and buildable today. Please know what you are talking about before you open your yap.

  • @chadhaire1711

    @chadhaire1711

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@ToyKingWonder You are an ignorant idiot who has no clue about horsepower and how it was rated--so here is some education for you dumbass: 1. The auto companies NEVER under rated horsepower ratings for insurance purposes...NEVER HAPPENED. That was sales pitch crap. In fact horsepower was OVER RATED. 2. You obviously do not understand what GROSS horsepower is and NET horsepower is. 3. The horsepower of the six pack was NOT 390, it was 325. 390 was the GROSS rating which means on a bench dyno with air cleaner, muffler, and belts removed. Problem is after the muffler, air cleaner, and belts were put on the engine, and placed in the car, the REAL horsepower dropped to 325. That is the NET rating. 4. Staring in 1972 ALL car makers dropped the fake GROSS rating system , and went to the REAL SAE-NET system AS INSTALLED IN THE CAR. Thus MOPAR parts dropped the 426 Hemi horsepower rating from 425 to 350. The 440-six pack dropped from 390 to 325. THOSE ARE FACTORY NUMBERS FROM MOPAR PARTS CATALOG POST 1972! 5. The 2020 Dodge 5.7 V-8 is rated at 375 horsepower....that is more than the 440-6 pack at 325. 6. A stock 2020 5.7 will do the 1/4 mile in 13.6--that beats a stock 440-6, and matches a stock 1970 426 Hemi..because the 2020 5.7 puts out more horsepower than the 440-6 or 426...simple fact. 7. In the end your "390 horsepower" for the 440-6 is only 325, and the "500 hp" you quote is SAE GROSS, which translates to about 410 SAE NET...nothing to rave about. 8. I think this conversation is over--next time do some research and try to know what you are talking about. It is easy to see why you are not using your real name..i don't blame you.

Rubber floor mat, only options it has, was the cargo light, and dual tanks. It's running on a 4" lift and old 35" mud tires. I have almost everything to convert it to a 1 ton drive train. If you know anyone with a decent 4 headlight grille shell, I need one. Brother is pushing me to get the '57 D100 back on the road. One way or another I will be at the Red Deer Mopar show. I'm going to try to get the Ramchargercentral guys to show up. We haven't got together for a few years. Bring some old school to a Mopar meet that's gone new age.

This is more a 1971 Charger with super bee decals. I don’t know why Dodge DIDNT keep the 2 cars separate. It’s like what happened ? You could get a Charger or a Super Bee or a Super Bee Charger meshed in 1 ?? Kinda silly to me. The 69 and 70 Super Bees didnt look like a Charger at all.

    Look at those hoods. As large as a dinner table from Champs Elysees. Beautiful cars but for me, nothing like pre-1970 muscle. I don't mean to be offensive to their lovers, but they look a little over-shaped.

    Jamboolio Nice I'm glad you love our American 1960s-70s Muscle Cars and I'm surprise they allow them there Lol the Left in the USA hate anything fun ( they must put silly regulations on everything they can) Thankfully we will be kicking them out in Nov. : )

    ahhh, and idiot wing. I don't care if it came with the vehicle, it looks like a 16 year olds car with that silly prank on it. and before you attack me, I had a 73' charger that had been converted to a 440 magnum, and it was awesome, big block in the morning, 700 rpm. also had a bubble hood on it and hood pins. dark blue and black, with a white top, as it was an SE Brougham, not as bad as you might think. if you have seen such a car, message me, I want it back. I sold it for 1100 when I was 17
