Anyone inclined to buy one of these, I recommend you do! I've been driving an m35a2 for 3 years as my daily driver... Not an occasional driver... My daily driver. At $3000 to $4000 for a truck in this condition, they're worth every penny. With my 46" Goodyears and the fuel turned all the way up, the truck is downright sporty and has a top speed of 69mph. With daily driving, the characteristics of these trucks begin to feel so "normal" and effertless. Steering and shifting just become natural in a few weeks. Every day in the deuce leaves a goofy grin stuck on my face and never gets old. :) this video was a lot of fun to watch. Keep em coming

I couldn't even think about driving this through rush hour. And then there is the fact my commute is 90 miles round trip, which would be a bit much! I had a lot of fun driving it though! Truly an experience! Thanks for watching it!

I'm 14 and looking to get one of these as my first car. Could you help explain the shifting on these. How do you go into first without grinding? I'm familiar with motorcycles were you have to match the engine rpm with wheel speed is it the same? It would just be sick to drive to high school!

gimme likes because my profile pic is justin y , first is not synchronized . as in the gear wont mesh smoothly an grind if its turning to fast . remember this is a tractor pretty much its for heavy slow operation . as long as your moving just put it in second an chug up to speed first is just to pull away from a stop . an dont slip the clutch just put it to the floor shift an let out . the 2 speed transfer case is synchronized so you can split shift if hauling heavy loads . first gear in transmission an low range shift to second gear , third gear , then shift transfer case to high range go back to second gear with high range an continue to 3rd an forth like normal . an honestly if you live in a city a m35 is going to be a challenge its big an turns like a train . an being 14 you probably dont have much experience operating large equipment . but if your in the boonies an all thats around is fields, crops an back woods trails an a high school parking lot than you might be able to get away with it. take mechanics if your school has it . make it a shop project if it needs work

Great Video. Those Trucks are awesome. They sound Great. I like how they sound when they are being shifted from take off. My dad drove them in the US Army and he would come home and tell me that the trucks didn't have power steering so you had to muscle up to make a right or left turn, and it all made sense why he would have a set of ear plugs on standby because the engine was loud.

Dude, this review was AWESOME 👏🏼 I laughed so hard! You really need to do more crazy unconventional stuff like this! So hilarious to see you working and yelling your way through this review 😆 And man, I was pretty surprised that you were allowed to drive this on a regular ‘rijbewijs’ (license) over there. Over here in Holland there would be no way that’s ever gonna happen haha! One small point of criticism though, you should’ve shaven the beard and left a classic truckers mustache for this review ;) Maybe next time, right? Big thumbs up for this review dude!!

I would drive unconventional stuff like this all day, I enjoy all car reviews I do, but especially stuff like this! And the beard? This was shot in November, which is no shave November. I keep it around till the end of the year and then go back to the token goatee and sideburns (unless I screw up shaving the sideburns in which case I am seen without LOL). And yes, I was surprised as well. You can drive a car - trailer combination up to 26,000 lbs which is 11793 kg! A far cry from the "puny" 3,500 kg in the Netherlands.

The shift pattern wasn't designed to make a third passenger more comfortable it was simply a solution to changing the gear boxes from gas models to diesel models. The gas models had a conventional shift pattern. When the doesels were introduced, the pattern had to change to suit the power curves of the diesel engine. The army couldn't care less about how comfortable the middle seat guy was!

Would drive it up to Grayling, mich. every September for the annual trail run, driving it from Ohio. It had a top speed of 56mph, but ran very smooth at 54mph, loved it, miss it badly. Set up like the low range of a road ranger 9 speed horse shoe trans without splitter for the top. Still ring gear so skip 1st or low and start in 3rd and stop in 3rd. Just slow to safe stopping speed pull stick to neutral and rest the stick against third (without grinding it there) when coming to a stop and it'll float into gear.

Love the sound of that. Wish I could get one but I don’t think their is any left. And would you need to know mechanical skills? I haven’t really grown up working on cars. Too bad because I heard you should buy one only if you like working on classic cars, etc. but I also heard they are relatively simple compared to more complex vehicles internals today. With someone with very little experience with vehicles you would you still recommend it for a learning experience? Or do you really have to be experienced with working and fixing vehicles?

LOL single seats with spring and shock, not the solid bench most of those trucks were under 240 HP they just weren't built for speed or comfort. call me old fashion but if something is going wrong, I want to hear it. yes, they are fun to drive when they are running properly as with any truck they can be tweaked as some have mentioned. funny he's shifting too soon. I drove an old pickup with an unsynchronized first gear. If I needed that gear before I stopped, or climbing a very steep hill, I would double clutch, like on a class 8 truck, and I would get that gear without the grinding. Step on the clutch. Go to neutral. Let up on the clutch and gas it. Then press on the clutch and shift into first. It's all about the timing. Boom, boom, done.

My friend has the same truck. We put a 10-speed road ranger in it. So you can get 10 in high range. And you also have 10 and in low range. And with a 10-speed in it. Do 75 miles an hour all day. Without over-revving a motor. And also pick up two and a half miles to the gallon.

Turn the pump up and that deuce will haul ass. We had a deuce in one of my Army units during my 9 years active that would run 76 mph top speed . I was caught doing 65 or 70 mph in it and got into a ton of trouble. Stopping ....Stopping was a completely different story !

Although it says multi fueled vehicle is vehicle. It is wise if you only use number 2 diesel . Using anything else is generally in case of an emergency or during military field operations when you have nothing else to use.

You ain’t had any fun if you ain’t driven and rode in a TATRA 813 8x8 Kolos built in Czechoslovakia between 1967 and 1982. They’re also slow cause they weren’t built for highway (comfortable @ 50 mi/h and top speed @ 55mi/h), but there’s nothing like a Tatra on the off road with it’s tubular “backbone” drivetrain concept and all 8x8 has independent suspension. The Tatra 813 was powered by a 17.8 liter naturally aspirated air-cooled diesel engine which sounds like nothing you ever heard before. All though the Tatra 813 was built in a communist country during the cold war era, it futures so much modern tech that you’d think that it was built much later. Central tire inflation controlled from inside the cab, awesome power steering and a synchronized 5 speed main gearbox with pneumatic shift assist, air over hydraulic clutch pedal, big 4 door pressurized crew cab (7 passenger + driver) with central air filtration, huge diesel furnace cab heater which can be switched to preheat the engine when it gets under 35*C below, air drier with built in hydro-ethyl delivery to keep all airlines and valves from freezing, 100 metric ton winch which can be routed to the front of the truck or back of the truck, and so many other futures it’ll blow your mind.
