That was his mom dork 😂 she was trying to stop him before he flooded this beast! You’ve clearly never dealt with older muscle cars. You have to prime the fuel pump while getting it to turn over by depressing the gas pedal.

My childhood with grandparents, going to town to buy supplies....with the chance to get a $ 0.99 hotwheels car from the rack at the local TG&Y checkout counter. 😂 Who knew the sound of a Dodge starter turning over a cold 318 could evoke such a memory? Miss ya Grandad ❤

My husband and I had this same charger 500... 383 4 bbl. Paid $4800 in Dec 1970. I still remember that high-pitched whine when cranking. Ours was dark green with a black vinyl roof and dark green interior. We both loved the tall front seats.Wish we had kept her as she was HOT. A truly beautiful work of art. Miss her still today. Take good care of this baby!!!

Most beautiful sound on the planet

The sound of a 318 cranking over is soooo distinctive; total flashbacks to my childhood.

All factory means that it's how these things originally sounded? Neat.

318 in my opinion was a good motor for everyday driving. I had a duster with a 318 and a shortbed 4x4 dodge truck with a 318 and both ran really well. They weren't power houses but a to b it's dependable.

Yes and you can turn them into beasts and play against the bad ones like 351 Cleveland 383 strokers here in California at Sears point raceway several massaged 318 which is the same as a 340 have eaten Chevys and shit Ford's.😅

My second favorite Charger of all time. First the 69. It's the back lights on those two model years That always got me. Wish the cameraman would have done a walk around of this car.

My 72 SE with 318 2 barrel would crank if it was frozen or on fire. Great engine. Legendary small block. Like the 289 and 283. Like what you like but , all 3 were workhorses.
