Those Buicks must be really underrated!!! Both cars are beautiful & fast.

I was fortunate to have owned a 70 GS Stage 1. It was a real sleeper. At the time not many people realized how strong this car was, except the local police. Great sound at idle and all levels of throttle. Beatiful car, red with white top/interior. All the bells and whistles, console shift, factory tach, etc. Hopefully, someday I will own one again.

they have stated the stage 1 had 425hp 510lb tq. the advertised figures were for insurance to not kill your pockets.

that's a 1971 Buick GS 455 Stage 1, not a '70 which has even less hp & it still took the LS6

Sure was. The stage 1 buick was every bit the equal to the hemi cars. It was a drivers race. I love hearing both hemi lovers and stage 1 lovers going at it. They both need to come to the realization that they were both the best of all the muscle cars. Not including special factory editions of course. I want both a hemi car and a stage 1 in my driveway someday.

kurtzim62 - Son, you have a helluva lot to learn. The Stage 1 455 Buick wasn't called the 'Hemi Killer' without reason. In 1970, the top 2 automotive magazines tested them all. Conclusion?...the Buick was the quickest muscle car built in 1970. Period. I know, I still have my Saturn Yellow GSX, with Stage 2 components. Even the dealer equipped LS7 454 can't run with her.
