Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On "My Car Story" we're in the Western Suburbs of Chicago IL on 5-25-24.
We're looking at a 1970 Buick GSX in Saturn Yellow Paint.
The car comes with the 455 CI V8 engine and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Dennis Doerge. Dennis’ had this car since 2014. Dennis shares he’s had this car for a while and decided it’s time to restore and get it back on the road. Only 678 GSX’s were produced from the factory. This car looks showroom new.

I owned a '72 Skylark in high school in th '80s. It was a bit of a junker, but still a lot of fun. Let a friend write on the bumper with a black magic marker, PASSING SIDE above the left tail light, and SUICIDE above the right. Good times. Dreamed of owning one just like the one in this video after reading about it in a muscle car mag where it beat all other muscle cars of similar size in a shootout, and back in the day. The GNX of the '80s being a nod to the GSX. Thanks Dennis and Lou!

I would have to walk home from High School daily in the early 1980's. One similar to this sat along a garage, minus the engine though it still had the factory 4-speed. One day it was gone. Sure hope it was restored as it looked to be solid and except for the missing engine mostly complete.

Beautiful! I love the yellow with the black, one of my best race cars was yellow. If I recall, according to the Motor's manual, 1970 was the peak for torque and horsepower on the Buick 455. I took a high compression 4bbl 455 from a 1970 LeSabre (?) 4dr and plopped it into a dirt track car. That engine is so heavy, it flattened the oil pan sitting on the floor overnight, had to use a dent puller on it. With the 455, my car was unbeatable and it never broke a sweat. The first lap was amazing. Entering turn 3, everything suddenly got quiet, I could barely hear the 455 running, but everyone else was just coming off turn 2 as I started out of turn 4. In the video you can see me turn around in the seat looking for the rest of the field. 😂 I bought the donor car for $100. They used to say, small blocks suck, big blocks truck!😊

The “Hemi killer” came from an 80’s muscle car magazine shootout drag race. The GS Stage 1 against a Hemi GTX. The GS won. However… the guy, Roy Badie who did the bragging about his recently acquired ‘70 Hemi GTX 4 speed had no drag racing experience, and wasn’t good with the manual transmission. The GS guy, Richard Lasseter was an experienced drag racer and president of the GS club of America. He had a blueprinted engine with worked cylinder heads. He was basically a hot shoe. All you have to do is look at drag racing history, and you’ll see which engine was the killer. 😁

My absolute favorite muscle car. The closest I could get was my old '71 GS455. That car was a blast. Side note: The prototype (show car actually) 1970 GSX is owned by a family in Ohio, and it is a wild sight to see. Look that car up sometime. The owner was Brad Conley, who sadly passed away last year. But his GSX is the #1 most rare and valuable GSX in existence.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: You get the best cars!!! 3.42:1 is probably about just right for that car, for regular street driving with good acceleration, Optimum would be a two-speed rear axle with something like a 2.26:1, (or whatever GM's numerically lowest was) and a 3.73:1 or higher, for really getting out of there in a hurry. I'll bet that the lowest possible gear in that car, in tandem with a very conservative right foot, would probably net close to 20 MPG or perhaps higher, at 55-65 MPH.

12:00 that Stage 1 engine is higher compression, the camshaft has a much more radical set of specs, but (per the literature) adds 0 torque and only 10 horsepower. Hmm...

It's the General Motors A Chassis the same as a Chevelle. I put a whooping on a Few Buick GSX's with my 79 Z-28 Camaro I do have 110 HP Nitrous kit on it . I also had a '73 Chevelle Winter beater that I paid $300.00 for very rusty had to put in new floor boards and then spray foamed the floorboards and trunk. The Trunk was totally rusted out thanks to a leaking rear window. I replaced the heads and cam and put the stock cam and cam chain out of my Z-28 Camaro in it.. 1970 64 CC heads for higher compression for driving in the Mountains in Colorado. Wiand SP20 intake spread bore 450 CFM Holley and headers got 22 MPG on the highway .. National 55 MPH speed limit. I also had the Turbo 350 rebuilt for $250.00
