1969 VW Bug Project - Episode 49 - Black and Red Bits and Bobs
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
As usual, a few words about my videos: these episodes document my efforts to restore an old VW Bug and are not intended as how-to's. I am a professor of English by trade, and I have no formal mechanic training (which is often quite obvious). I'm also into making semi-interesting/entertaining videos showing how I've gone about my restoration work. But I make no guarantee that my results will be your results, nor that you will remain injury free if you try to do what I did. You may harm yourself, others, and/or your car if you copy me. If you do, that's your fault, not mine. Please be safer than I am, make safety first not third, and do not do anything if you don't know what you are doing. If you have any doubts at all, consult a qualified automotive professional, and pay him or her to do it right and safely.

Thanks, Bob. Cheers!
Really have enjoyed watching your videos of your VW project. I like that for the most part you stuck to your original idea of trying to do everything yourself using the parts you had. One idea to go along with the theme. Why not get a VW tattoo on your head;-) Or at least put a stencil on. I'm sure you will get some laughs from the wife and kids. And entertaining for your viewers on the "rare" occasions when you head got in the way of the camera;-) Thanks again for sharing your project. Also, good job on the video production and editing.
Your VW Bug is looking good.
Is there a video about replacing the release mechanism on gas cap flap door for a '69 VW Beetle?

I haven't seen one. I didn't have to do that, so I never looked for one.
Just finally subscribed and first best intro ever !! Love the work you have done and also a few mistakes and getting them put right . Very enjoyable keep them coming , maybe do a vw campervan next :) cheers Andy (uk) vwcoco
Enjoy your videos, I want to see the pin striping.

I’m working on it. Hope to have it up in a week. But my striping was more subtle than heavy just because my skill set is what it is. Didn’t want to slap a bunch of crappy lines all over the little guy.
Where did you buy the kill switch? Ths

Summit Racing, I believe.
Where did you get the antenna hole cover and the door lock handles

eBay for the antenna cover. It’s a rare piece, but I only paid $20. The door lock pulls are from JBugs.

School St. Garage thanks for the quick response. Is that the stock roller pedal. I also have a 69 but mine has a more standard style pedal. Ps I’m seventeen so I don’t know much

No, that’s an aftermarket pedal made from a skateboard wheel. I dig it. Bought it from shortysvw.com at a VW show.

Yep. Just got it running right last week. Three months of distributor nightmares. Update and new episode coming after the holiday break.
