Shelby Mustangs have always been special cars. The years 1969 and 1970 were very similar cars, but there are some very interesting differences between them!
Our good friend Jim Wicks has spent a lot of time with us over the years. He has been involved in the Shelby and Cobra world since way back when these were all just essentially used cars. In today's world, it's kind of hard to imagine, but back in the early to mid 70's, that's all they were!!! He is a literal encyclopedia of knowledge and Shelbys and Cobras are where he really specializes. His knowledge of these cars is so deep, that some of our viewers now refer to Jim as "Wicksipedia"
We were at Mecum with Jim recently checking out a very rare, 1970 Shelby GT500 powered by a 428 Super Cobra Jet Engine. That was when he suggested we talk about the differences between the 1969 and the 1970 Shelby. One very interesting thing that I didn't know, is that they were all actually 1969's!!!!!! The 1970 Shelby Mustangs were actually sent back to Ford and had 1970 VIN numbers reassigned to the leftover 1969 bodies!!!
