What amazes me most is how masterful Chris is yet he has somehow not become a snob in an expensive shop. I have so much respect... Looking forward to saying 'hi' someday. I've compared prices and if you want good lifters (no matter the type, you need to get your wallet out). I am using the 440 Source heads (cnc'd locally) with Morel/Bullet hydraulic roller lifters, H-S roller rockers in my build, which is going to be much more tame than Smurf's engine.

I know you drove smurf hard, but most would have been gutted finding it necessary to tear down and do a complete engine rebuild because of a failed camshaft bearing. I admire you for your unfazed attitude towards that and your willingness to just get on and do whatever was necessary to sort it out. The end result is the prize and you now have one hellacious car. Well done and best regards.

Is that just a problem with those engines when you push them. I've seen Steve Dulcich from Motor Trend do a oil mod on the top end. I'm not a Mopar guy so I don't exactly know what it's all about.

Hey Chris- on my '69 RT with a 2-4 weiand tunnel ram, I did have a hole in the hood, but found it ran REALLY cool with no hood at all. And yes, I had electric fans. Oh- I did have to run 1/2" fuel line to the carbs, too. Put an inline filter on top of the cowl & when I nailed it- you could see the fuel bubbling ( electric fuel pumps not keeping up).

Chris ... if you ever come across a set of ram charger heads, try them on a 383. You have to notch the cylinders to clear the 1.88 ex valves, but that 383 motor will breath and scream past 7000 rpm and because it's got smaller crank journals then a 440 it won't have any oiling problems.

i'd go for the Hughes roller rockers, rather than the harland sharp. the hughes lubricate the bushings on the shafts better, whereas needle rollers on the harland arent as strong due to reduced contact area to the shaft. thats just me .. Plus if youre putting 16k plus into a motor *tisk* whats an extra 4 grand for a Mopar megablock if it means the engine is gonna have a bulletproof oiling system and bottom end to boot.

It's important that the factory coating stays on the Pistons. Don't get me wrong chris is good everyone can learn something new every day. Knowledge is power and i wire brushed several sets of Pistons till they were shiny before i was told about that
