1967 Triumph T100C: PT 6 "The TARANTULA!" CARBURETOR - Barn Find Desert Sled

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A short video rebuilding a Monobloc Amal carburetor.
Some notes about this video:
I should have also mentioned checking the flange for warping. A warped flange usually means a warped throttle body. Go check out The Mighty Garage's latest video, it's pretty amazing to see the repair he did to fix a fairly warped flange.

Also I noticed at the end the Phenolic Block is too thick for this manifold's studs. They come in different thicknesses, and I will be replacing it with a thinner version.
Finally, I'm still going to try running this carburetor in an ultrasonic. You'll be amazed what loosens up in the passages, even after a carb dip. Good for piece of mind.

The spider is a black widow. Reminds me of the movie Every Which Way But Loose bike club the Black Widows. Great movie 🎥

Good job on the carb rebuild......your collection of tools looks just like mine as well as your procedures. Those old Amals were not the most sophisticated of carbs but worked quite well when clean and thoughtfully adjusted. My main problem was living at 6200 feet altitude and running up to 9000 in Wyoming mountains. There isn't much air in the air at 9000 feet! I used Bing carbs on some of the Husqvarnas but jets were like gold to buy and pretty soon I could not find them. A Bing will run better wide open than the same size of Mikuni I found out.

Good stuff. I have a 64 TR6 that came with an Amal concentric from the previous owner. It was starting to get finicky so I replaced it with a brand new Amal concentric premier (which has worked great) but part of me wishes I had gotten the proper monobloc for the bike instead. One of these days I'm going to shell out the money for a monobloc...just to see what the difference is. In the name of education. I have a friend with a 57 TR6 that wasn't running great. We put a new Monbloc on it and now it runs great. The monobloc is a sweet carb. We didnt use that fiber washer, so I'm glad to hear you say not to. I do wish the monoblocs had the extended tickler like the concentrics have... just so I don't get gas on my hand.

I certainly don't mind a concentric on a bike that came with them, I just like the ease and look of the monobloc. But another problem that happened later with Concentrics was the pressed in pilot jets... and that's just dumb.

Acetone is better for removing Hylomar. Good effort overall dude.

Could you bend the float tab and then use the gasket ?

There's no tab to bend. I've tried manipulating these floats before and all I ended up doing was ruining the float. I think you could add a dab of solder to get more height on the float, but removing the fiber washer is easiest.
