1967 Mercury Cougar Project Intro

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Introducing my 1967 Mercury Cougar GT. The car is a 'S' code GT so it sports a big block 390 cubic inch engine. This particular example was also ordered with a 4 speed manual transmission. The mechanicals have mostly been sorted out and the next couple of videos will be about getting it ready this cruising season.

I got my 67 Cougar back 43 years after I sold it! It's been in a rotisserie for a few years, but I'm hoping to get it back on wheels later this year. I'll be watching the rest of your videos for clues and inspiration. Wish me luck!!!

Ty for sharing your project wit us! May I recommend going to 68 door hinges and installing The Mustang Steve greasable hinge kit. I have a lot of 67-68 Cougar parts! I'm currently building a 67 trans am clone with a 393 stroker. I also have a 68 with the 428cj. (Along with several others) lol.

Yes fun, I had a ‘67 Inverness Green GT 390 4 speed Top Loader that had Low Riser 427 heads. It ran like the Bullit car for fun. I ran thin 427 head gaskets (11:1 comp) with Original Lemans valve covers. It also had the original American mags. Probably the best of all my cars ever. Now I run a ‘19 Black SS Camaro with 455 hp and 6 speed that is even faster. In between I had a Orange Boss 302 that would rev to 7500, balanced and blueprinted with TRW forged pistons. I typically do all my own work because I’m old school.

Nice ride! Wondering why you have the plexiglass over the cowl?

Its a common cover for Mustangs and Cougars to just keep water and debris out of the cowl. It uses spring clips and is easy to remove.
