Before the pandemic I could visit three thrift stores on my way to work. Passed up several consoles every week. Most were GE or RCA. I retired so go hardly at all, but haven’t seen a console since.

A REEL-TO-REEL IN A CONSOLE??? How awesomely retro is THAT???
@kfl611 Жыл бұрын
I so want one. Years ago I saw a Fisher president Stereo console for sale, and it must have been an early one as it had two, or most of the monaural components, to make the whole thing stereo. I was rather expensive at the time and I had no money so I could not buy it. I'll put it on my bucket list. I love Fisher equipment, along with Marantz, HH Scott (E.H. Scott too), McIntosh also.

My father had a floor model console and before he passed I adopted it. I had for 2 years decided to plug it up. Everything came on but the sound. So I took an old receiver I had and was not using it open the back plug up the receiver to the speakers and they worked along with the turntable so got an idea of fitting this receiver into the cabinet. Went to HOME DEPOT got some wood had it cut and lay the block of wood into the cabinet and fitted the receiver in there perfect. Got some paint finish and OLD ENGLISH WAX and the sound is so pure and perfect. I cannot believe I did this all by myself. Now when I am at I just sit there and just stare at it. I did not want to invest money and getting the original amp fixed so it was upgraded to a SONY RECEIVER and now my project is complete

Super nice Fisher hi-fi console. Why is it on something like a forklift? These were meant to be put on the floor. So remember Fisher,Scott and Magnavox hi-fi consoles from, those bygone days. My dad used to have those Command records-used to listen to them. When Mom and Dad passed away don’t know what happened to Dads records. Got some of Moms-she passed them to me before she moved to a retirement home.

I always loved the console and was sorry when they stopped making them. Back in the 60's lots of electronics were packed into nice looking luxurious furniture like the console TV. They were so luxurious to look at and the sound was out of this world. Fischer back in 1967 was probably pretty good but in the early 80's they were considered low line quality electronics. Thanks for sharing this video and for keeping this marvelous piece in excellent shape Steve. Good for you. Oh and that music you're playing on the reel-to-reel is the kind of music my father loved. He loved symphony music a lot. I was soothing to listen to. Most of his music, of course, were on the 12" LP's. I remember Percy Faith being one of them. I sure miss the old stereo console system. I can't remember what the brand name was. It belonged to my father when I was a young kid. Your console looks like solid state vs. my fathers which had tubes in it. Access to everything was on the very top of the console unlike this one. It had AM/FM a phonograph record player and a tape deck. I think it was a cassette tape deck though.

The only thing I find where they lack is their ability to play rock well. These are best with classical, jazz, easy listening and light rock. Heavy rock and heavy classical can sometime get too boomy but I also never heard every type of console out there. It's just my limited experience.

When the name Fisher stood for something that was above beyond the usual mass market dreck in console stereo’s. By the late 60’s console Stereo’s were starting to get cheap and sound quality was starting to become and afterthought over convenience. These were not cheap either. I favored earlier Motorola’s and The Fisher in these platforms! Everything else in a console was pretty meh..
