1969 - 1984 Remembering Saddleback Park, Bailey wins

How about this I was there when they opened, then on July 4th 1969 I was blessed to be the first American to beat the Europeans there. Then the year David raced the 500 class and won, it closed. So many memories, the best thing about that place was the track for most part was different almost every race. The start and the finish was alway the same (love that bonsai down hill) My place to pass. When David first started riding we got to spend a week there filming a TV show and riding all the trails. And as far as the Matterhorn? Well, I looked at it..... May had even gave it a try, but not to the top. Shame we lost Saddleback, and Carlsbad. Those were the days. Real motocross, that's when the bikes were tough to ride and the riders were tougher. Ok, no whining from you guys today. It was 20 min Motos, and 3 Motos per class. Some guys ran two classes, and if you were real tough or not real smart, you would ride 3 classes. Just incase you are not good at math, that would be 3 hrs of racing that day. And just an FYI there were only four classes 100,125, 250, 500, and it was only Jr and Sr. Not much rest between Motos, as the Jr class only ran 15 mins. HAPPY TRAILS YOU"LL
