This is the SF I remember my ship was stationed at alameda and i went to SF as much as i could. 66 was a very good year for me made 2nd class electrician got a car ( a 57 buick but what the hey) got a girlfriend Great memories thanks for sharing

I'm glad you like it. My Father's old super-8 videos that he took during my whole childhood had been sitting in a box in his garage for all this time. I had them converted and made clips for you-tube 2 years ago. I'm lucky that he did such a good job of organizing and combining his reels over the years. He just died in January of this year. He lived a very good life. Thanks again .. Steve

Thank you for posting this. This was the city as it was when I was 7; we moved away a year later. I’ve been looking for my parents and grandparents in the film! LOL!

I was 11 and dad brought me along on a business trip from Chicago. Stayed at the Sir Francis Drake with the Beefeaters and the Skyline Room and the cable car at the door. I said to myself this is where I'm going to live when I grow up and after college it was. While he was working mom took my brother and I to GGPark and the Japanese Tea Garden and to Fisherman's Wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge. All so beautiful and everything clean - no bums or junkies around. Half a century later I would walk dog at Fort Funston near where the pony ride place was in Daly City.

I was a baby living on 24th Street at the time. My father, John Overstreet, was a cab driver.

Thanks for the great video. I was born in the city in the early 50’s and lived there until 2001. It’s fun to see the old cars and the SF muni busses back in that era

This is where and when I was conceived (born/raised elsewhere). My parents aren't around to tell me more. So, this find of a film, is well, wow.

Great stuff ! If someone wanted to do a parody of a film and be silly this is a goldmine. However I would charge that this film was quite well planned and likely spend some time and money to complete. It was a joy to watch.

hopefully you made it to the haight, went to some shows at the fillmore, avalon, or carousel ballrooms, saw some legendary bands, dropped some owsley and lived through a moment that changed history forever

This is so cool! I've been looking for this in the old, back in the day films & videos of San Francisco. I was a big fan of the TV show "ironside" starring the late great Raymond Burr. At 04:54, you can see the old Hall of Justice building that Ironside worked out of. To the bottom left of the tall office building in the center of the screen, you can just about make out a black building just off the very visible street there. That's Kearney Street. The Hall of Justice has those arched windows that was a hallmark of that structure and you can just about make them out. You can also see what look like skylights or something on the roof, reflecting the sunlight. Also, just to the right, across that street, with all the trees, you can make out Portsmouth Plaza Park. They filmed some remotes of Ironside's building there. And then just to the right of that, there is a slightly taller white structure. That is a restaurant that has long since closed. "Empress of the Boon". From the roof of that restaurant they filmed a sweeping remote skyline view of Ssn Francisco and panned around to the Hall of justice, where they then closed in on it leading to a scene inside Ironside's office. The people who shot this video here on u tube clearly shot this video from Coit Tower on top of Telegraph Hill. In 1966, that was a year before Ironside premiered on TV in 1967, but they shot remotes of the Hall of Justice before they tore it down. For just about the entire 8 year run of the series, though his office was in the old Hall of Justice, the building itself actually no longer existed! They tore it down to make way for the Hilton Hotel and the Transamerica Pyramid complex that stand there today. I've been stumbling across some old videos of San Francisco back in the day and how it has changed from then till now, not necessarily for the better. And I've been looking to see if anybody caught the old Hall of Justice, whether inadvertently or on purpose. And I never saw it. Either because when they were filming it was already torn down, or if before it was torn down, they just weren't looking for it. But you guys scored a bullseye! Thank you and congratulations. It's too bad you didn't happen to close in on it and it's very far and blurry, but I was look'in and I caught it! What an amazing piece of video trivia! Thanks again!

I jumped off that same engine as a kid (on a dare), & had the wind knocked out of me!!

How old was your dad when he died?

I remember living in the inner Sunset district on Lincoln Way & Funston street. We lived in a lower flat with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. I think my mother paid $128.00 dollars a month rent back then!!!!

Yup, I remember as a teenager Playland at the beach closed down on Labor Day 1972. My mother knew George & Leo Whitney!!!!
