Me too 😬👍
Jeez ! Thanks for the butt puckering memories Dane. Being the young apprentice at Cummins Ontario in the early 70’s it seemed that I was always the guy that had to steer the dead iron into the shop truck bays. I think we had about 20 sum odd bays, and all the doors were narrow. You had very little to spare on either west coast mirror. We used our fork lift to pick up the back of the frame rails, and it was all down to me to muscle the steering wheel and get it between the goad posts. I recall only once breaking a mirror, but I might as well have broken them all for the ribbing I took. I drove many trucks with standard steering back in the day, but dead power steering takes all you’ve got. Grasshopper is looking good. In Canada I don’t think we ever had the cab access whoop style you have in the U.S. Canadian Kenworth had differences in many components, and models. I recall seeing one with a cab similar to yours in Beloit at a cold storage warehouse while unloading my load of meat. The truck, the trailer, the driver, and his dog looked like they where on their last mile. The tractor had a long wheelbase not often seen east of the Mississippi. The engine was a horizontal model mounted across the bottom of the frame rails. It had a chain holding the back of it from falling on the road, or so it looked. It must have originally had a long drom box in its younger day. I was very curious about it parked in the next dock with my new 82 KW 100 VIT, and my snazzy looking 42’ 6” light weight Trailmobile reefer. It’s all relative now Dane, however I drove that cabover for 26 years. I sold it about 2 years ago, and the new owners are doing a full restoration on it. No doubt it will outlive me. 😊 lots of memories.

Well it’s a beautiful N1000! And thank you.
A lot of things make that truck, but that gold air filter really pops in a good way!!!! Grasshopper is looking magnificent! Another truck like the H series Two Story Falcon, but in medium duty format, is that Dodge which used the front of their old '60s flat face A100 van as the cab, perched atop of a riser platform, like the big Ford. The White 5000 rivals or exceeds the Two Story Falcon in terms of goofiness. 5000s had a fiberglass cab.

The gold separation stripes on Blue Jay does look good. Grasshopper is looking sharp! The gold air cleaner can provides even more flair for an already great looking paint scheme. Yep, careful with Xacto blades. One slip with a fresh blade can result in a deep, surgical incision. Sure, ask me how I know.

Hay buddy good luck grass hopper looks good buddy
You have a good eye for simple low cost "lipstick" that accentuates the rest of the colors, makes them pop ! I'm waiting to hear Grasshopper's exhaust, now. We've all heard enough of straight pipe noise .

Thanks Dan and so am I… I’m thinking next week we’ll fire it up. Problem is the cab must be down with this kind of exhaust and we need to have the cables and wiring done so we can shut er down if need be.

Justin of Just Truckin' has recently bought an old early 90's model Kenworth K100E cabover that was stretched by the previous owner,it runs and drives under it's own power and is now in the process of slowly restoring the truck to do local LTL work & as an RV truck pulling an RV fith wheel trailer, and taking the cabover to truck shows. Paul of Big Paul's Trucking is also currently working on restoring an early 80's Mack Cruiseliner cabover has already replaced the old rusted spring ride chassis with fresh new C-channel frame rails & crossmembers;and is currently in the process of replacing the underpowered Maxidyne 6 cylinder diesel engine with a Mack E7 turbocharged air to air diesel engine, which is going to take some custom fabrication work to make the air to air conversion to work.

The way you have things re-arranged, I’d imagine they also have something to do with some posts on FB….and I’m sure you have reasons for those as well to be revealed in due course. Now, starting with “Blue Jay”: that gold pinstriping is what that truck has been missing….good call! Definitely provides contrast and gives it a more “finished” look. “Grasshopper”…..for some reason, I thought you were simply replacing rear clips altogether. Are you just stripping everything and re-installing the Pete components on your frame instead?

It’s too bad you can’t rebuild the KW torsion bar suspension on “Grasshopper. The suspension you are replacing it with appears to be a Rayco. I’ve ridden on both, and as far as I’m concerned, the torsion bar rides a lot smoother than the Rayco. When I first started Long haul trucking I had a 1977 K100 cab over KW with the torsion bar suspension. Later I was move to a conventional KW with the Rayco suspension. Both were co trucks.
