1966 Jaguar E Type Disaster Breakdown & Projects Update.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I really could have done without the hassle i had with the E Type breaking down in the rain. I waited over 2.5 hours for a transporter to come and
recover the car back to my garage. Now i have to dry & clean up the car.

From any angle the E Type is staggeringly beautiful. So it's not just modern Jags that suffer when water is around. The Citroen will look stunning in those colours for sure.

Malcolm, I agree they are an iconic shape and look like there moving stood still. I will do a little colour test but I pretty sure that's the combo. Cheers Dave

David, If I would have been a bit damp it wouldn't have been too bad but I was soaked to the skin 😩 On top of waiting for hours for recovery. Cheers Dave

Ah the same weather as we have had in the UK, from sun tan to rust.... I hope your wife is a lot better now after her fall. Regards Doug.

TBH you're 100% right as much as it was a pain breaking down it would have been so much worse if it would have happened on the Jaguar club run in June with my wife. We have both dried out now and no harm done to the car or interior so I‘m happy about that 🤔 Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, just wanted to say ‘Touchet’ been there done that, had the same ignition switch contact fail on my S1 1965 E-type, original second hand switch on ebay solved my problem and managed to rebuild it using my original barrel re keyed to fit original Wilmot Breeden FS key.I felt for you as i too got caught going to my TUV here in Germany and roadsters dont like rain, now have to make it waterproof again, who thinks a restoration is ever finished! Cheers Nick

Nick, It‘s not the first time and I‘m sure it wouldn't be the last 🤔😉 I will order a new ignition switch from SNG Barrett in Holland 116 euros. hopefully it will turn up before our Jaguar Club run in the middle of June. So true restorations are an ongoing project 🤣😂 Cheers Dave

Sorry to hear about the e-type and the mini Dave, but sounds like it was a Murphy's law day: "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time." Always a better day tomorrow

I'm lucky I don't have to have my car inspected here, the only thing I have to do is register it in Arizona

Gary, In all fairness I must say it does keep a lot of death traps off the road. I think another set of eyes going over your car is not a bad thing. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave, Have you got a de-humidifier? Would be useful to dry out the Jaguar. Or failing that outside in the sun.

No i don't have a de- humidifier as the garage is so well insulated but it was dry after 24 hours. I was drier a bit quicker than that 🤣😂 Cheers Dave
