My coupe has a Holley 4 bbl on it as opposed to the motorcraft carb and still uses all of the V8 Factory items. The only real issue I've had is mounting the return spring which I think is now solved not great but it still works. Perhaps it might be wise to try and track down some of the original V8 throttle components and rework them as you know they would have worked originally. Every body always says putting an 8 in a car that had a 6 in it even if there is a v8 version should be simple rarely is that the case there is always something. Good luck! Take the manual shaft out and change it over make shure you replace the manual shaft seal.
