1966 Dodge Coronet
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This is a short drive in a rare, old, war horse. 426 HEMI 4-speed 3.54 Dana. 1 of 11 produced. The car was special ordered new at Berglund-Schneider Motor Company in Cherokee, Iowa by a local drag racer. Fortunately, it was reunited briefly with him and his wife about a year ago. They also had taken this car on their Honeymoon back when it was new. She was laughing about trying to get all the damn rice out of the upholstery after the wedding! Fun memories!
A few years ago during my ownership and while at the local drag strip, a comment was made implying that my actions could be considered: The most irresponsible use of an irreplaceable car. Perhaps true- but I consider those words as a badge of honor. Now sit back and enjoy going for a ride in the rarest car you're ever going to ride in!

Fantastic machine! There is no engine like a classic Hemi! 👍

Ha- an interesting term which I had long since forgotten. Hope all is well in your world. As you can see, rather busy in mine... yet no complaints. There are some other videos on US191 you might enjoy. Thanks for checking in!

It's surprisingly complete/unmolested considering what its original purpose was. She's a good ride and still nice and tight. Watch "50 Years in the Making" on my channel for more of the story.
The Canadian lady knew what she was talking a-boat, aye? Sweet car! Has to be the finest remaining example.

Beer and donuts- aye? Yeah, you Canucks train them well! Of the 4 remaining (of the original 11) remaining that I know of, this is the only one that gets "properly" driven.
Awesome ride! And unlike most people these days, you know what a freeway on-ramp is for!

Yeah- no kidding!! Cars doing 80MPH and people try to merge at 45?
Love the upright, rectilinear styling of this beautiful beast. It’s giving the proverbial finger to the drag coefficient in favor of Q-ship good looks.

Ha!! Well put. That aspect is also one of my favorite "sleeper" aspects. ..ain't no Cuda, RR, SuperBee, Charger etc. It's a taxicab with taxicab interior!
There is absolutely nothing more satisfying than hearing the “Clanging” metal to metal of putting an old school air filter assembly back on a car, and the possibility of dropping a wing-nut. What a great ride!!

I never really thought about the metallic sound- but good point! They are all plastic now. I almost left that clip out during editing...but damn, that whoppin' air cleaner is such a big deal I left it in. Glad I did, Thanks for the comment!
Wow what a beauty! I’m working on building my ‘66 Belvedere with a 440 :)

The correct ignition curve and properly adjusted accelerator pumps sure make it fun to mash the throttle at 25MPH! Yeehaw!

Gorgeous car - got good pickup. Does the cigarette lighter work?
Looks great, sounds great, goes like a banshee, and pretty much the car I would have ordered, if my paper route paid better. Are you still running the 5.5 wheels? Your tires look to be a bit bigger than the 7.75 x 14’s

Yes 5.5 wheels. I screwed the tire selection up. It had very dry 7.75-15 bias-ply redlines on it when I got it years ago. I was in a hurry to drive and enjoy it, but the only available 14 inch tire was Cooper 225-14's. I never cared for the look after I went that route. But it drove nice... and hooked up better.
My grandpa had this car... the main difference is the engine. Slant 6 and 3 speed manual. Not fast at all. Also a 4 door

But the interiors are much the same. Hopefully you have great memories of both.
