I own a 65 Plymouth Barracuda since a few days and it is a dream come trough! I love the design style more than a Mustang and looks cute from the front and bad ass at the rear. I love the big curved window at the back and it doesn’t for me don’t look and do not feel similar as the 64 Dart convertible I’ve owned. I’m a big early sixties Mopar lover and lots of other women understand my taste of cars.

no such thing. it would be a '64. Only 1st Mustang came out as 64 1/2 because it was meant for '65 but the '65 had changes hence the '64.5 name.

IIRC, Motor Trend compared the "high performance" first run Barracuda & Mustang. Barracuda was deemed the better car. I loved the 2nd gen Barracudas (67-69), especially the Formua S fastback.

Bill, I have those cars. My 67 fastback, F/S is even stock bright red, with black sports stripes, and 4 speed, with black interior. Talk about eye candy for the dealership back then, lol ! If I was a teen in 67 I would have drooled over it daily, lol ! Alas, I was only 2 in 67, so I got a 65, and 66 too. 64 had push button, and was identical to 65, so I stopped with those 3. Cars are cheaper than women to obsess over, lol !

At last! I know that my Aunt's Valiant was a 1965 and a 200. I really liked that car, and was upset when she traded it in for a 1971 Satellite. Her Valiant was a light blue, and I think metallic. I'd REALLY like to see this color corrected. The yellow and cyan dyes have faded.

It's noticeable how the proportions of the Valiant is similar to the modern Chrysler 300. also to the '49 Plymouth and 70s and 80s "M" bodies!

I believe it is, So this has been a MoPar theme over the decades. It's probably why I think the 300 actually looks more like a "real" car! 😀

My son has a '65 V200 2 door. Always thought it was strange that the U.S Government made Chrysler remove the push button auto shifter (which was a great idea) and not make them fit the front stabiliser bar as standard equipment (like every other car for sale at the time). The handling without the stabiliser bar is almost dangerous!

While admittedly, I'm a GM guy, I would love to have the Barracuda, It beats Ford 3 ways, 1,It was first before Mustang, 2, torsion bar suspension, and 3 that rear window is bad a$$!!!

+WAQWBrentwood bullshit. the barracuda was on the market 3 weeks before mustang, the torsion bars made it ride like a buckboard and the rear glass made the interior hotter than a witches tit-which are a few of the many reasons ford kicked its ass in the market place

WAQWBrentwood I like all the classic muscle cars made in '65, when they were known as "pony cars". They are sort of small, and you could put a big motor in it if you wanted to.

Mustang sold like hotcakes because it was the right size, the right price, was good looking in a very sporty way and looked like an all-new car even though it was really just a Falcon with a new body. The Barracuda looked like a Valiant with a fastback roof - which it was. But the Barracuda was a good and very practical car that, with HD suspension, handled with the best of them. Fifty years later, the fact that it looks like an economy car Valiant is not a handicap, since almost no one remembers what a Valiant looked like. My non-car friends and family love the way my Barracuda looks. And more than one person has mistaken my Valiant convertible for a Mustang. I haven't notice that my Barracuda or Valiant rides like a buckboard. And if they did, it wouldn't be because of the torsion bars, which are just straight springs that are mounted so that they contribute much less unsprung weight than the typical coil spring. Nor have I noticed the big - and very tinted - back window making the interior hot. So - bullshit on you dicarlo. . . .
