1962 Ford Workmaster 601 "Bringing Back To Life"

This was Mr. Wayne "Papaw" Rudd's beloved tractor. He plowed fields, worked gardens, and mowed yards for decades with this tractor. Over the last few years the tractor was laid to rest as Papaw finished his time here. About 6 months ago, I looked at the old tractor in its poor, tiresome state and decided to bring new life back to it. While it would have been cool to do a full restore on the tractor, I felt it would be a lot better to dedicate to the memory of the man that spent an unrecorded lifetime of work on this very piece of equipment. The current state of the tractor will be preserved with a patina finish. This is a short video showing the work of several people finding the missing pieces needed and bringing this piece of iconic history back to life. It is with love for a man that did for so many, and asked nothing in return, that we were able to make this happen. Papaw will forever be missed.
Feel free to checkout Papaw as he gets his tractor ready for a day of work. • Ford Workmaster Tractor

Sweet old tractor! I have the same one. Mine is a 1959. Because of the paint and it being a 601 Workmaster, it should be a later year. I'll bet, if you check the serial number, yours will be somewhere between 58' through 61'. Great post.

I'm restoring an old 600 now. I picked it up a month ago and have a bunch of parts on order. It stalls some when I give it gas when under load. Everything I read points me to the fuel system. Well, I decided to replace the tank, fuel line, new filters at each end, and full new carb rebuild kit. Not sure I trust the person that said he rebuilt my carb at this point. Nice to see yours running. I look forward to getting mine running. It has a rototiller that wants to get played with in the spring. :D take care. I was interested how the choke was mounted and now I am sure how to place it. Thanks.

I didn’t see the generator light come one during start up. That almost looks like a 12si alternator possibly self exciting?
