I had a 62 ragtop Impala I bought for 875.00 in 1968 in Huntington NY. It was Silver with red interior & had fender skirts and a 283 2 speed auto, in excellent condition, I took to Miami to college my sophomore year. Whoever owned that car before me took care of it because it only had 21K on it for being 6 years old when I bought it. The one thing it did have that I loved especially cruising top-down was a reverb in it and back speaker that was in the grill In the back seat where the impala logo was. Good times with that car I met my now wife of 50 years this year 2020 and we speak about that car often, it was the car we dated in and went to the drive-in often. Great memories!
Magnificent vehicle, truly awesome
I had a red '62 Impala SS 4 spd "409" htp back in High School (1968) and it was LOTS of fun to cruise around in. But those dual 4bl carbs and 411 gears sure drank up the High Octane gas. ;-(

At High School in 68 I had a 64 Pontiac Grand Prix, 389, 325 HP, only 1 4bbl, automatic, posi with dual pipes, in Chicago used to burn Martin Super Purple, I think it was about 98 octane, god how I miss those days.
Sharp-looking car. I really miss the interior color options of the 1950s through 1980s cars. Everything is black or gray or maybe white today. I had a lowly 1989 Dodge Spirit (K-car derivative) with a white exterior and red interior, and it looked like something costing twice as much. My father drove a 1962 Impala SS (white with red -- always a great combination) for 12 years, and I drove it a number of times as a high school student.
All 62 Chevys had a generator but the ones with factory air had alternators, I have a 62 chevy SS with factory air I bought unrestored and it has an alternator, it even states it in my Service manual that factory air cars had an alternator.

That is not correct. I've had three 1962's and two of them had an alternator. It is very simple to switch between the two if you wanted to. (These cars I bought in the early 70's, so they were factory. Late year they changed to the alternators.)
It's a beauty love it my dream car same year I was born
BEAUTIFUL CAR 😎
Un auto precioso y muy cómodo. Mi papá tenía uno necesito, azul cielo. Belloooo
beautiful car
I had one almost exactly like this in 1964. Is this a 3 on the tree or a power glide?
Is that really the right ww fluid reservoir for that year?!
Is that under the dash a/c?!
Very nice car
Their all over in California..matching numbers aren't a big deal anymore except when copo. Neighbors down the street has a loaded ss black on red.. electric everything . Same owner since new... i couldn't buy it just yet.. but did get a 69 fully optioned impala convertible with 427 from him with 27k documented untouched drive train.
What no tower clamps🤔
Thats how they sounded back in 1962.
Mine was white with red interior but notthe SD model. Mine had a 6 cylinder. I loved that car even without the fender skirts.

How much
This car most likely had an original sticker of about $4300 being a top of the line air conditioned convertible.
