Just a gorgeous and stunning 61 Fleetwood Sixty Special I think. The detail on Cadillac’s from the late 50 ‘s through the 60’s was just fabulous and so ahead of its time. The 4 powered vent windows, the autronic eye to dim the lights the fabrics and color harmony( tone on tone) done correctly. Just stunning and way cool.

These were truly beautiful cars. I always thought the 59s were gaudy, a parody of themselves. By 61, they were the refined classics people expected of Cadillac.

I always thought the 59 and the 60 were too extreme. I always thought the 64 was the best looking of the 6 years.

Best video ever Dude! I could tell you were really jazzed about this one and I am as well! I was 11 years old when this car appeared and I begged, pleaded, cajoled, and basically bugged the crap out of my Dad telling him how we just had to have one of these! LOL So great to see this beauty and yes, indeed, for an old timer like me luxury did not mean race car speed, it meant convenience features, beautiful styling and a definite 'look at me' attitude. 😉👍

My family had one of those. I used to work on it when I was 14 years old. Totally loaded like yours, Fleetwood 60, black. Very rare car. Wish I still had it.

These cars are very beautiful and a real pleasure and privilege owning. I own a 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special very much like this car here except in Driftwood Beige. Its a very beautiful car being an All Original un-restored example. I couldn't be any more happier!! This is the oldest Cadillac that my family and I own and its the best of the 60s era. Beautifull styling and many of the features are found on today's car. Great performance and very good fuel economy. The Cadillac 331, 365, 390 and 429 engines were really good running cars and were very efficient running engines. And one other detail is that these Cadillac's have FOUR speed automatic transmissions!!....not three like later years. These are Great cars!!!!!!!

Beautiful Fleetwood. You can see the high quality of the interior and dashboard trim that ended at the end of the '68 model year. For '69 Cadillac lowered the quality of the material to cut costs.

We had a ‘59, bought new for $4500. Quality of interior materials was excellent. Seats were low, flat, and not supportive, however.

I was talking to someone recently and they said they thought what ruined the cadillac all the things that made the cadillac a cadillac had to do with the standard of living going down. They didnt sell an awful lot of them in the 60s. Also gm seems to be concerned with bottom line alone instead of big car ride style. Looks so on.

A very nice 1961. I also like the 1956 big Fleetwood. I have a 1969, but now, it's just a parts car. I like most Fleetwoods up to & including 1976, before cars began to be downsized. Even back to 1932, but I saw a 1932, go $ 600,000. Too much for me.

Guess what? Back in 72 my friends Granny (he called her granny) gave him her 61 De Ville. It was a 4 door, but it was a short wheel base. It was white with black and white interior. Here’s the bummer of the story. I got into the car with the sharp end of a pencil sticking up in my back pocket. Yup, rip. That sound was sickening. Fortunately he had it fixed, but I won’t forget what a dip shit thing I did.

to revise my entry above : in 1958 the standard model was the shorter deck. you could get the longer deck as an option. in 1959 and 60 the short deck was not available. 1961 through 1964 the short deck was an option , though not popular as I mentioned above. the short deck option was never available in the Fleetwood series.

this car has many power features. however power brakes , power steering , power seats power windows, automatic headlight dimming and hydramatic were very common on cars in 1961 especially luxury cars. they were standard equipment on a Cadillac.

@@lawrencerubinson2707 yes, you have to be careful about alot of the baloney salesman say, frequently they get things totally wrong. My 58 cadillac was bought by my parents in 1960. I was 1 year old. 4 years ago I had to break down and have the 4 speed hydramatic rebuilt. Was still working fine, but leaking like a sive. I called so many transmission shops, none would take it on. Despite I had already bought the rebuild kit. Finally, I found a shop in San Bernadino that said they could do it. They did a great job, only charged me 1000 dollars, and gave me a 1 year warranty! No more leaks. My car has factory Air, and power windows. They were options then. I have seen many 58s with Manuel windows, and no air.

Holy CRAP BATMAN! 1961 was a strange year for GM. Look at all the 1961 Models downsized from Chevy to Buick. I think the Full sized Pontiac's looked most odd. But I would love one now. And look at this baby for just over $25K. I would be scared something would break and can't be fixed.

it's a miracle that any of these cars still exist. the build quality was awful. my parents bought a '61 fleetwood when it was seven years old (1968.) less than 3 years later, the transmission fell apart and they got rid of it. these cars were made to look nice and not last very long (so you had to keep buying a new one every few years.) some people say "they don't make them like that any more." thank god they don't.

it's also had extensive restoration work and tens of thousands spent on it to keep it going. you can do that with any car if you really like the car. I'd say 95% of them have been scrapped.

Clueless. These were highly engineered. So much so they couldn’t afford to maintain level for the 60 Specials. As person said before...dead wrong.

chieftp We had a ‘59, bought new. No major repairs. Just normal maintenance...tires, brakes, mufflers, later, helper shocks. Car was garaged, washed and waxed routinely, basically coddled. Looked and ran like new when traded in ‘65. Excellent quality of materials throughout.
