Vietnamese are probably the toughest and bravest people on Earth. They fought the French, Americans, Japanese and Chinese and no one could stand in their way of getting independence. Huge respect to the Vietnamese!

I am proud to be half blooded Vietnamese. My father joined an army since he was 15 and he devour himself for the country and defense his people at all cost. Even after vietnam's war had ended. He continued to liberate Cambodia country from Pol Pot regime which helps millions of people from death of hunger and mass killing. I am proud to be his son.

Your father was a serious hero. Where exactly did you say he was from? I am a very serious historian and I only study the Vietnam War. I do idolize people like your father. You should be very, very proud to be that man's son. Your father is a great man. I will be proud and impressed with you, if you continue to study the history. The world needs to know every detail of what happened from 1800 and British and then French Colonialism 1930-1980. Can I interview This man? Is he alive still? If he is alive, you are a very blessed person. I had a father, like yours, a hero, but not in war. My father was a domestic hero. He raised us well and gave us all education. He was clever and challenged all of my siblings to become a great scholar. Our family is loaded with doctors, lawyers and engineers. My father had a 156 IQ. My mother Ruth just passed; Ruth was a sweet soul. Ruth was very horrified by the Vietnam War. and Bob died in 2002 and used to watch WWI and WWI history shows with me growing up. You are blessed to have family. I have lost my parents, but I have many nephews and nieces. No cops, no warriors. All peaceful people. My Uncle Allen got on national TV and spoke negatively about the Vietnam War and that we don't belong there. This was way before hippies. Uncle Allen did this in a US Navy uniform, active-duty sailor. They locked him up in Leavenworth, the famous American military prison. My mother got an attorney and got him out. He became friends with The Grateful Dead and all the cool hippies in America that dropped out of the right-wing American society. I send you and your family 1,000 blessings. I am a Pentagon Papers and Vietnam War scholar. I am one of the most well-read people on the subject of the Vietnam Wars and times of peace 1930 -1980. I challenge you to learn as much as you can about this subject. It is the most interesting topic. Social change was everywhere in the 1960's. JFK and RFK were going to end that war and liberalize the world for the better in 1963. They found out about the corruption and savagery in that war and were going to end it. They murdered JFK in broad daylight and sold the American public a nonsensical story. Then when RFK came to finish the job, they found a way to kill him too. We're still trying to figure out what happened, but I think LA Gangster Eddie Nash was the hit man for RFK. Your father fought for the greatest cause in human history. Much like the American Revolutionary of 1776, the Vietnamese fought a very trained army and they fought for the right to self-determination. Besides the American slave being freed, I'd say the Vietnamese kicking the shit out of the Americans and the social change of the 1960's was the biggest event in human history. If you would like some start up authors, I'd suggest Marilyn B Young "The Vietnam Wars". I will share more if you're interested.

@@jpgrygus You are tragically confused Sir. If someone went to fight against the US & China backed Khmer Rouge, I think that is heroic. George HW Bush was in China helping the Pol Pot Regime to stop what they called "Vietnamization". The Chinese were worried the Vietnamese would push on their territory and they had US support for this. Our good old pal George HW Bush was serving up a genocide to Mao Zedong. The Vietnam War had less to do with communism and more to do with heroin, the American CIA and their violent partners in the French & Italian Mafia. These are the people who shot JFK and RFK because they were going close Vietnam for good. This was going to close a heroin monopoly that was going on since 1950's. The Vietnam War was a 3rd Opium War not a war about communism. They wanted self-determination and democracy and our leaders caved to French diplomats and business. They became communist after we told them they can't be an elected people. We disallowed their democracy because Ho Chi Minh was going to throw the French out of the country after WWII.

As an American, Air Force Nurse during the Viet Nam era, I did not support the war but totally supported our military. President Johnson, Secretary McNamara & Richard Nixon led our country astray and into a war we had no right to proliferate. I knew what we did in South Vietnam was horrendous, example, Agent Orange. Honestly, I never gave much thought to North Viet Nam except, they had right to follow their own political choice. HoChiMinh was out allie in WW2 but chose a different path. Seeing this video sickens me for what we did to them. It also gives me great respect for NVN of that time. Apology from one heart can't assuay one drop of blood spilled, but I must extend it, now, 2023.

Putting it simply, the Vietnamese just wanted their country's independence and integrity, and to be left alone, if not friend to everyone. All else is negotiable. # They'd go to any length, endure any sacrifice, hardship, suffering, ... for their country's independence and integrity. =================== Jay Lu says "The mongol couldn't conquer vietnam. The chinese has tried on and off for thousands of years. The french failed. The japanese failed. What makes you think the US had a chance?" -- I say: # Very well said, Jay Lu; especially when China is right next door, and 20 times the size of Vietnam. If the expansionist, boundlessly greedy, ruthless, extremely cunning, brutal and experienced rulers of China could not conquer Vietnam despite repeated attempts, what makes anyone think the US could ? =================== Frankly, as a Vietnamese, I really don't care who won or who lost that war. But I do care whether Vietnam would get back her independence and integrity, and whether armed foreign invaders were still present on our homeland, dictating via a puppet régime what we could and could not do.

Hey guys, to understand Vietnam war and us, Vietnamese people, it is not complicated. If you come to our house with the knife, We will NOT scare of you and willing to die to protect our families, our country. But if you come to our house with flowers/ friendship, we will warmly welcome you, and even willing to die because of you as well. We defeated China many times in thousand years, defeated French, America not because of we like the war or like fighting. Just simple that we don't want anybody stand on our head. For all, we are in peace and independent now. For all, we are trying to develop our country better and better now. Still many difficulties ahead but the work-front is a must.

This Video brings back memory of my auntie's story. My auntie has been telling us the following story hundreds of times. Each time she recounts it, she cries. It must have been liters of her tears over the years. # The story is .... # That was a Lunar New year in Vietnam. My aunt and her mother (my grand-aunt-mother; my mother calls her auntie) were travelling by ferry boat on a river in southern Vietnam. All of a sudden, American helicopters appeared, and shot at the boat. My aunt and her mother sat next to each other. Her mother was hit, and was dying in my aunt's arms (she was a small teenager at the time) # My aunt recounts of her mother's last words: "Daughter, it's certain I die. Don't forget to look after your siblings and listen to your dad." # Then she died in my aunt's arms. As said, each time my aunt recounts that story which happened 50 years ago, she cries.

Dear Hoang Sa, From September 1967 to October 1968 I served as an 11C (indirect fire infantry/ mortar man in South Vietnam. Sir or Ma'am, I was conscripted into the army. If I would have refused to enter the army, I would have faced imprisonment, brought disgrace upon my family, and never would have been able to get decent employment in the U.S. I am sorry that I caused your country and people misery because of my actions. However, I was not prepared to spend years in an American prison, have a criminal record, or never be able to get a decent job. I did what I was forced to do. I give you and your countrymen my most contrite personal apology. However, my government owes me an apology. I did not have the money or family influence to stay out of the Vietnam War, as did President a Trump. May peace be with you. It took me decades to say this. Please forgive me. I was not in your country by my own desire or choice.

In the end, America did not stop Vietnam from turning Communist. Vietnam is still a communist country to this very day. The war was waste of many good American and Vietnam lives. Many people try to justify the war, but often the actual people in the war who did the killing regretted the war. I spoke to 4 veterans of the war, only one of them returned to without any type of ptsd. Some have not fully escaped the war as the war followed them for decades. When the Americans soldiers returned to the USA they were not treated well. Many American vets even became homeless which is a shame and should have never happened. The US government used those soldiers, and when the government was done they left the soldiers fend for themselves. It is sad to see that no matter which side you stood on in the conflict the end result almost always led to unhappiness. Vietnam was a war started by politicians, but the politicians did not fight or suffer from the war at all. This is one of the first instances where America displayed how expendable the average soldier is when it comes to the hands of politicians. This is what the future learned about Vietnam.

The lesson from the American-Vietnamese War is that we shouldn't let fear guide our nations. The US feared communism in Vietnam, but the Vietnamese just wanted independence more than anything. It just so happened that the Communists in Beijing and Moscow were the ones willing to give the Vietnamese the weapons so they could fight for their independence from France. Vietnam and the USA both had fought for their independence and it is said that Ho Chi Minh looked up to George Washington and the Founding Fathers. Vietnam and the USA could have been very good allies and friends. It was only the USA's fear of communism that led to an unnecessary war that caused so much destruction, pain and death. And it was US fear of Islamic extremism that led to a 2nd invasion of Iraq and and 20 year occupation of Afghanistan. If we do not learn to control our fears and hatred, we will only cause more suffering and make more unnecessary enemies. As an American, I'm really sorry for what my country did to Vietnam, even if I wasn't alive during that time. I hope that we can be forgiven and that the US and Vietnam can both move forward to a brighter future! 🇺🇲❤️🇻🇳

Polpot massacred many border villages in Vietnam, massacred many Cambodians, so Vietnam had to fight against the falsely accused Polpot.VN. @@destubae3271 No nobody invited America. They didn't need us to stop communism; they could've done it themselves. Stop trying justify America invading another country. Again, Vietnam didn't have to be communist. It could've been independent and democratic without a war we had helped them become independent right after WW2 then the whole Vietnam war would've been avoided. You see, at the end of WWII Ho Chi Minh came to Truman and asked for his support in seeking Vietnamese independence from the French, and Truman basically brushed him off to support the French in their occupation! And it’s not like Ho Chi Minh just played Truman one visit and then went to Moscow! No, he really respected America and in fact he modeled the Vietnamese declaration of independence directly on the American one, so he sent Truman numerous letters, which Truman chose to ignore in favor of supporting the French! Ok, France was our friend and all who backed our bid for independence, I get that, but France was wrong on this! And we as a self-proclaimed champion of freedom and justice were morally obligated to support the Vietnamese in their quest for independence and freedom! But it gets worse than all that. We turned our backs on the morally correct until Ho Chi Minh got support from the soviets! Then we decided to get involved on the premise that if South Vietnam fell to communism, then all of southeast Asia would follow! But as you can see, after we left and all of Vietnam became communist, that did not happen! So basically 58,000 Americans and several million Vietnamese died for nothing! To me that makes it the worse war! And I can’t help wondering how different Vietnam would be right now if America under Truman had done the morally correct thing! Also, many South Vietnamese felt they could've fought the war themselves without U.S. interference. Now I'm no fan of communism but it's none of our business whether Vietnam is communist or not. Besides, the South Vietnamese felt that they could fight the war themselves without American interference. All they needed was supplies and moral support, nothing more. As one former South Vietnamese officer stated, " We fought for our country with our best,” Vo said. “We didn’t need the Americans to do our job for us. We didn’t need the American GIs to come and fight for us. We needed money, supplies and international support.” And here's my source. www.mercurynews.com/2017/09/29/veterans-angry-disappointed-following-pbs-vietnam-war-documentary/

The Allied Army of the US, UK, Canada, Belgium and France, was able to reach Normandy, thanks to the Soviets destroying the Nazis in Stalingrad, Leningrad and Kurks, in 1943. It took them 289 days but the Russians won and without the help of nobody… OF NOBODY! Normandy was until June 1944, and Mr. “Hollywood” Patton did NOT manage to set foot on German soil until January 1945, when the Red Army was going over Berlin. General Patton was able to enter Germany only when the Russians were 180 kilometers from the Oder River. Now, don't you come to say that the Soviets received help from the US. The material "Aid" was NOT a gift from the US. The material "Aid" was not free. The "Aid" was SOLD, and very expensive. Those who say that the Soviets received help to defeat the Nazis, I say that a Tank does not handle itself. That Artillery does not fire alone. If U think that I am wrong and that the Russians were helped to win the war, I challenge you to tell me the name of a Division that fought shoulder to shoulder helping the Red Army. However, the powerful US Army defeated the tiny island of Grenada, as it faced a fearsome army of 287 Police Officers, since Grenada does NOT have an Army. In fact, they were half this number, since the Policemen on the afternoon shift had not yet come to work. The tiny Island of Grenada is 4 times smaller than the Island of Puerto Rico. Its entire population fits into New York Yankee Stadium. They had barely 3 years of having won their Independence and passing, from being a Colony of the English Empire, to a Sovereign Nation. @@ducannguyen7372 No nobody invited America.
