  • @joelbauman852

    @joelbauman852

    5 жыл бұрын

    Plenty of examples of this, on same-era Standards as well. Depends on whether the guitar was ordered and built from scratch as a Bigsby model or if they just grabbed one that was already drilled and put the Bigsby on it. This one had black plastic plugs in the stoptail holes that shrunk and fell out eventually. 335's/345's/355's would get that cool "Custom Made" plaque to cover up the same unused bushing holes.

    Collector grade?... A gorgeous instrument regardless, but when you've got a whole chunk of exposed mahogany on the back side of the headstock, that's a lot closer to 'player grade', no? >Great playing too. Will have to dig back for some more Joel.

  • @joelbauman852

    @joelbauman852

    5 жыл бұрын

    Generally "player grade" would imply either serious structural repair or refin work, either of which would generally halve the value thus making it "player grade" because the price was a lot closer to what players could afford, in theory (though I don't know many "players" that have $25-30k sitting around to spend). No breaks, repairs, mods, original PUPs, case, etc. means it's a price not many non-collectors can afford. Museum piece though? Definitely not. Just a killer "no issue" vintage LP.

    Great sounding Les Paul. Why do the customs sound so "powerful"? Ebony fretboard adds low end and presence (IMHO). I thought maybe it had to do with the Mahogany top but I think that was only the 57, wasn't it? The later years were Maple like a standard? But this one sounds amazing.
