The Chevrolet Corvette (C1) is the first generation of the Corvette sports car produced by Chevrolet. It was introduced late in the 1953 model year and produced through 1962.[4] This generation is commonly referred to as the "solid-axle" generation, as the independent rear suspension did not appear until the 1963 Sting Ray.
The Corvette was rushed into production for its debut model year to capitalize on the enthusiastic public reaction to the concept vehicle, but expectations for the new model were largely unfulfilled.[5] Reviews were mixed and sales fell far short of expectations through the car's early years. The program was nearly canceled, but Chevrolet decided to make necessary improvements.
Harley Earl, as head of GM's Styling Section, was an avid fan of sports cars. He recognized that GIs returning after serving overseas in the years following World War II were bringing home MGs, Jaguars, and Alfa Romeos.[7] In 1951, Nash Motors began selling an expensive two-seat sports car, the Nash-Healey, that was made in partnership with the Italian designer Pininfarina and British auto engineer Donald Healey,[8] but there were few moderate-priced models.[9] Earl convinced GM that they needed to build an all-American two-seat sports car, and with his Special Projects crew began working on the new car in late 1951. The last time Chevrolet offered a 2-door, 2-passenger convertible/roadster body style was in 1938 with the Chevrolet Master.
The most expensive Corvette (C1) to sell in history was sold by Barrett-Jackson in the United States in March 2021 for $825,000.
The last features to appear in 1960 models included taillamps molded into the rear fenders and heavy grill teeth. New features include aluminum radiators, but only with 270 and 290 hp (201 and 216 kW) engines. Also for the first time, all fuel-injection engines required manual transmissions.[18] The 1960s Cascade Green was metallic, unique to the year, and the most infrequent color at 140 made. Options that were not often ordered included RPO 579 250 hp (186 kW) engine (100), RPO 687 heavy-duty brakes and suspension (119), RPO 276 15×5.5-inch steel road wheels (246), RPO 473 power convertible top (512), and RPO 426 power windows (544).

I have a Revell 1960 Chevy Corvette, I found it at a very unlikely place, Radio Shack in 1985. A multi piece body!

Built this kit as a kid. It had workable stee springs on the front. The correct name for the indented sides of the body is COVES.

HEY-DAR 👊😎👍: Pat yourself on the back fellow Cheddar-head, every time I hear of a new kit coming out the first place I come is here to check it out 🤗 Great Job with the review 😉 All the big kit manufacturers should have added figures (one standing & one sitting) from the beginning. It would have helped keep the kits popular with the kids 😱 Be Watching You Later, (MODEL CAR)🎭(MAN CAVE)

Of all the cars I've owned (over 50 - I know), I've never owned a Corvette. If I ever do, it'll look JUST LIKE THIS ONE. Nice choices. Fun video. Thanks

The issue I built had real metal coil springs in the front. Boy were they a pain to work with! It was compounded by the poseable steering and the springs wouldn't allow the spindles to seat properly. Glad this issue doesn't have them... Chris needs all his hair. I lost quite a bit of mine building this one.😂 Great build and review as always buddy! Rock on Brother!

A 7 in 1 kit? Don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before, that's pretty impressive, and I know for sure I'd be spoilt for choice if I had to build it. I like what you decided to come up with, keeping it relatively simple in the process, but I must say I like the different racing car options and if they can be used on other Corvette kits from the same era that'd be great.

Your parts review got me scratching my head... As a kid, I built Revell's version of this Corvette; it was part of the "Skip's Fiesta" series of cars. Now, I can confirm that AMT's and Revell's are 2 different kits, but I'm 95% sure that Revell's kit had the exact same front grill/bumper, with the molded-in "1960" license plate, same font and everything... Weird!!!

In this video, for clear coat, you mentioned Future Floor Polish, as you have in past vids.... As it was "discontinued" in 2014, what product do you actually use now? Or, do you have a 10+ year old jug of Future?😅 Also, do you sand or otherwise prep paint before adding the clear? Love your posts, especially the older trucks and "everyday" vehicles! Cheers!

Thanks for the nice words! I do not sand, I spray and that's it. Simple, fast, enjoyable modeling right from the box. I've done a video on a suitable alternative to Future Pledge Floor Shine called Quick Shine on store shelves. kzread.info/dash/bejne/X4Sdy65uo5e9gtY.html
