The street rod phenomenon really got going in the early 1950's. There was a good supply of old 29 Fords around, and the new overhead valve V-8's were hitting the market. This was the perfect combination for a young man who was good with his hands. The Model A street rods were light, powerful and cheap to build. But most importantly they were very fast!

Features
V-8 Engine with 2 different intake styles.
Choice of 2 different frame types.
Choice of steering wheels and headlights.
Molded in white and clear.
Chrome plated parts.
Soft black tires.
149 Parts.
The Ford Model A (also colloquially called the A-Model Ford or the A, and A-bone among rodders and customizers)[3] was the Ford Motor Company's second market success after its predecessor, the Model T. First produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2,[4] it replaced the venerable Model T, which had been produced for 18 years. This new Model A (a previous model had used the name in 1903-04) was designated a 1928 model and was available in four standard colors.By February 4, 1929, one million Model As had been sold, and by July 24, two million.[5] The range of body styles ran from the Tudor at US$500 (in grey, green, or black)[5] to the Town Car with a dual cowl at US$1200.[6] In March 1930, Model A sales hit three million, and there were nine body styles available.[5]Model A production ended in March 1932, after 4,858,644 had been made in all body styles.[7] Its successor was the Model B, which featured an updated inline four-cylinder engine, as well as the Model 18, which introduced Ford's new flathead (sidevalve) V8 engine.
The Model A was well represented in media of the era since it was one of the most common cars. Model kits remain available from hobby shops as stock cars or hot rods.Several Model As have obtained particular fame. The "Mean Green Machine", a green and black 1931 Tudor Sedan, has been a staple of University of North Texas football games and special events since 1974, maintained by the spirit organization Talons since the 1980s. The Ramblin' Wreck, a 1930 Sport Coupe, is the official mascot of the student body at the Georgia Institute of Technology and appears at sporting events and student body functions. Ala Kart, a customized 1929 roadster pickup built by George Barris, won two straight "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" awards at the Oakland Roadster Show before making numerous film and television appearances. Between October 1992 and December 1994, Hector Quevedo, along with his son Hugo, drove a 1928 Model A 22,000 mi (35,406 km) from his home in Punta Arenas, Chile to Ford headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan. The car required minimal service, including a flat tire and transmission work in Nicaragua, and is now housed in the Henry Ford Museum.[21]Charlie Ryan's song "Hot Rod Lincoln" featured a modified Model A. The song has been covered several times since its original release.

I am getting back into modeling, after stopping in my late teens. Now retired, I have time, a few bucks, and am going through what cars I have owned and driven during my life, as the goal model cars to build. (probably ... mostly ... maybe building them as they were while I owned the actual cars), but as over 50 years, I have owned a considerable amount of cars. Regrettably many of the cars I have owned, are not available in kits. So I have some 'muscle' wish cars in my collection as well. Enjoyed some 'tricks' and 'hacks' that you showed in building, especially the tire tread sanding. This is my first video I have seen of yours, and will look through some older videos, but if not already done, or as an update for newer viewers, I would like to know more about the vent hood where you paint. The turntable and various clips you use for painting .... and more tricks and hacks. Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed it.

Plenty of that stuff in the hundreds of videos I've done. I've reviewed the paint booth. The parts holders are Tamiya Paint Stands from Modelroundup.com and the alligator clip ones are soldering helping hands.

When I got back into model building I went out and spent probably too much on a certain brand of CA glue by some Mr Smith guy. However I find that Gorilla Glue Gel works as good if not better. It’s also available at the truck stops I park at nightly. Next time I’m home I may stock up on some dollar store super glue.

Just a simple tip, use the rear axle mounts that are on the frame to locate the axle and springs, but do not glue the axle to frame and then after the springs and trailing arms are set cut the mounts off. This will let the axle look like it could move up and down.

Great build! I have been eyeing this kit for a while to add. Suggestion for you and anyone else. I just picked up the Revell 1932 Ford 5 window Coupe kit if you like these old 1920s and 1930s street rods. You can make it so many ways with 2 different body styles (with fenders or as a high boy fenderless), 3 different engine combinations (Ford old flathead, a 302 Ford or the late model Mustang 5.0 engine) and it has 3 different wheel styles (chrome aftermarket rims, steelies, or steelies w/ hubcaps).

@@hpiguy Your very welcome. Have been trawling through some of your old vids and enjoying the results. Some fantastic models but not all available here in the UK. Now winter is just around the corner, it's time to dust off the bench and set out some builds myself, 1/35 armour more than anything, but after watching your builds has inspired me to have a go at something different. Keep up the good work and enjoy 👍🏻

great job again. your addition of the decals made me think of other post construction A/M parts. Perhaps you can fix up an engine on one of your existing builds with wiring, battery hoses etc? I have a large stash many from your show. They're backed up but this one is on the list

I built something simular to this years ago, in my youth! However the kit I did, was not as detailed. The chassis was kinda flimsey! Over the years I've probably rebuilt it about a dozen times, because it got broken or just wanted something to do... Gonna get this when it's out for sure!

Nice kit,it's even got an alternator bracket. No more floating alternator!! Even if it is a Chevy/GM engine! I don't approve of mismatched motors. If it's a Ford, put a Ford in it, Chevy gets a Chevy. Unless it's some odd ball engine like a Cadillac flathead or a Packard etc. Looks like a lot nicer kit than the last model A I built. AMT pro shop roadster. Was a mess. Had to do a lot of filie work and sanding to make things fit right. Gonna have to i try the tire sanding Gizmo. It kills my arthritis holding the tires when I sand them!

tom cline nice thing is the kit has plenty of potential , mine will have a Flathead ford or a 427/428 , Im thinking I will build many of them . Can’t wat for the ‘30 5 window coupe

@@davidjohnmiller4849 Yep. I've done both, put flathead in an old model T delivery and a 427 SOHC in a A roadster. Something else about this kit, I'd move the engine forward a half inch, and rebuild the firewall as flat as I could. Just me,I like that flat firewall look. Ol hpiguy builds some amazing models,he just doesn't have to time to alter things and scratch build inconsequential stuff. I'd love to see him go nuts on a kit!!

Thanks Tom! Yes, with a kit build every two days, and videos, it's not easy to take it much further, plus the main reason is the companies want them built as is.
