This is GALAXIE, not a Fairlane 500. Yes, the truck lid on 59 Galaxies did indeed say "Fairlane 500", but Ford never referred to the car as such. The Fairlane had a different roof line and a different back window.

4 door hardtops are the real darlings of the ‘50’s. Better proportions than the 59 coupe!

Ford never marketed this model with the wide rear corner posts as a Fairlane 500. They marketed it strictly as the Galaxie. At least in this country and Canada. The 59 Ford that WAS promoted as the Fairlane 500 did not have those wide corner posts, nor did it have that inset back window.

Sir, I have been reading and learning that 59 Fairlane was the transition year to the Ford Galaxy 500 Known as the Fairlane 500. Then in 1960 Branded as a Galaxy 500.

The formal roofline (C-Pillar) indicative of a Galaxie. Fairlane 500 had a wrap-around rear window. It's even branded "Galaxie" on the sides of the rear fenders. at 1:27 @@ronaldyager9463

@@ronaldyager9463 Sir, Ford never referred to it as such. Check out period advertisements. I am old enough to know. It was called the Ford Galaxie. The Fairlane 500 did not have that Thunderbird-style wide C pillar, nor did it have that Thunderbird-style back window. Yes, the trunk lid said "Fairlane 500", but Ford never referred to the car as such. Being there at the time beats reading about it later, reading material written by those too young to have been there.
