Definitely a Fantastic Design...
My favorite old truck. I saw one when I was 9, and never forgot it. 📻🙂
Napco wasn't the competition, They were company that did all Studebaker and G.M. 4x4 conversions of the era. Only Dodge and I.H. offered factory 4 wheel drive at the time.
super torquey.... soooo torquey, what a torquey motor.... REALLY TORQUEYEYEY MOATER
If you read some of my comments --they tend to be a bit critical, I am an expert '67-'72 Chevy /GMC 4X4 restoration and sales shop. You've got a knockout truck--very , very rare and well restored. Nice Job.
I may be wrong but weren't they built by Napco as well? Either way it was one of the most rugged vehicles ever made!!! Those trucks have a manual choke. How much did the truck sell for??
Cool truck in its time👍 It would keep it if I'm the owner - for sure it will catch more stares and awe than current trucks with all the fancy stuffs it has seen more days than the others out therr...tractor tires would make it look more brute😀
Studebaker 4x4's used the same NAPCO that GM used
Studebaker home of the oldest land Vehicles
I noticed you didn’t use the choke to start the motor. Then I noticed it died to end the video. You might be right about the carburetor.
They dont build em like that anymore mabe todaystrucks have better safety features but i still love the old classics i hope u do too.

Almost no cars "came with" seat belts installed from the dealers, but as early as 1956 (maybe before) some manufacturers listed a very affordable set of front lap belts that could be bought and dealer installed. Most drivers at the time were very ignorant of safety concerns and were just fine to risk the consequences of a crash. It took the federal government to Demand that seat belts be installed in all cars sold in the US as of 1966 model year.

No it didn’t ?
Let me start out by saying, I own both a 1957 Studebaker supercharged Golden Hawk, and a 1957 Chevrolet Napco 1/2 ton. I am absolutely not prejudiced, my Golden Hawk was superior in it's day. My 1957 Chevrolet Napco is superior to the Transtar for the OHV (Overhead Valve) engine. The one piece windshield, the same other than that. The Studebaker had the option of a V8 and automatic. Chevrolet had one basic truck, HD 4sp. Oil bath, 235 Inline six. You had to order a GMC for P.S., automatic, but you got a Pontiac v8 or GMC six (Pontiac). Chevrolet and Stude were superior in reliability in MHO, possibility Studebaker winning reliability based on years engine produced and moving parts. Rapid

You sure don't know much about 1957 Chevrolet trucks. They had a 283 V8 available, and beside the 4 speed manual box, a light duty 3 speed and a heavy duty 3 speed and a 4 speed Hydramatic were also available.
Way too cool and 8 foot bed.

Thanks :-)
My granny drove one of these. They are old lady trucks. Ugly as hell too.
Sounds like it is running like a hairy goat.
