35,585 actual miles. This is a survivor. Bought new by Bakery & Confectionery Workers Local Union for one of its officials. Then sold to Revrend Picard in 1957. He sold it to the 3rd owner in 1978 and that person kept it until 2002. Rare factory a/c, most houses didn't have air in 1956!
EXTERIOR: Looks like a car right out of the Godfather movie. Very clean original metal. Body is straight, fits nice, doors shut like a new car. The exterior was repainted 1 time several years ago. There are blemishes- cracks and touch ups but it shows well standing next to it. Chrome and trim is also good original. Not pitted or dented but has some wear. Has 1978 Chicago city sticker still in windshield. Also has a crack in the windshield. There are air inlets on each rear 1/4 for the a/c system.
INTERIOR: Original interior from carpet to headliner. Well preserved unabused survivor condition. Nothing torn or broken. The seats are still nice and firm, upholstery is slightly discolored from age. The dash area is beautiful. Padded dash is excellent with no splits, has autronic eye (auto headlight dimmer). All the chrome sparkles. Lenses, knobs and instruments are excellent. Big beautiful steering wheel has no cracks in the plastic. The wonder touch radio works. The coolest part about this car is the factory air conditioning. It's a big unit in the trunk with clear plastic tubes running up to the headliner. There are chrome vents overhead at all four corners. It also features power windows and seat.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Also original condition. Not caked in grease or rust but never polished and painted either. Smooth running 365 V-8 with all original components. It also features factory air conditioning, it is complete and functional. Also has power steering and brakes, windshield washers. Original registration card from 1957 is still in the card holder in front of radiator!

I've owned my 1956 Sixty Special for over thirty-eight years. My Mother and Father went with me to pick it up on my twentieth birthday in 1983.

Cadillac ruled the roads back in the day ! American Icon...... Chrysler Imperial.....Ford's Lincoln were rivals to Caddy ....The Triple Crown of Luxury USA Cars
I had a 53 Cadillac 60 special in high school in the late 60's. It was the car we took to the drive in movies, 7 or 8 in the interior and an other 4 in the trunk, with the lawn chairs and coolers. With my heavy teenaged foot I would get 8 or 9 mpg of Ethel at 28 cents a gallon. The color was a pretty powder blue with light Grey cloth inside, man we had fun in that old boat.
I learned to drive in one like this, complete with factory air. Learning to parallel park the car took skill.

Not quite but kinda similar in looks. This Cadillac is almost a decade newer than the 1949 Hudson that was the movie car.

The Driving Miss Daisy car was a 56 Cadillac, but I can't remember if it was a Fleetwood. I think it was probably a Sedan de Ville. The jerk loudmouth son had a 59 Cadillac.

They used a 1955 and a 1956 in the movie. Each a black Sixty Special. As if we would not notice the difference.

Elegant car for sure but looks like some non original gauges were added under the dash!! However, I have never been a fan of a "mortuary grey" interior, not even in my 58 EldoradoBrougham! My one owner Elegant 54 Cadillac sedan has just under 54K miles with an elegant rayon/mohair dark green interior to match the forest green exterior. All original car! Thanks for the tour!!!

My '52 series 62 shares some similar features, although it being the base model, it does have an under-seat fan which blows heat onto the drivers part of the bench! paint is a nice black just like this one shown in the video, however never resprayed. all original clean trunk as well with the same spare tire. I truly appreciate your attention to originality, the way it should be B)

People were quite responsible with money then. It took quite a bit of saving up as most car loans were for just two years. Still 17,000 buyers snapped up one of these at a cost of about $5100 (approximately $53,000 in 2022) Nice car.
Need more camera time on the interior especially the front. Camera panned only for a few seconds.

Well at least the 73 has a bit more HP at 235 compared to a measly 210 wheel HP for the 74 Cadillacs.
