I think if you rotate the handle it will release the beaters.

I remember when I bought it in the 1990's I was specifically looking for one that was all chrome. I think even then it was sought after over the painted models. Most of these were white but for Easter one year I did buy my wife a rare pink model (which she doesn't use because she's trying to keep it perfect).

Back in the 60's, my mother and my friend's mothers all had a Mixmaster on their kitchen counters. There were many other brands available but Mixmaster seemed to be the most trusted.

I still see these at the local flea markets. They were certainly built to last and must have done everything consumers needed. My wife bakes a lot and she loves this unit enough for her to give her Kitchen Aid to her mother.

It's a shame how the quality of things made in recent years is so inferior to what was made when that mixer was new.

Yes. This will likely run another fifty years now even though it gets used a lot.
