the zeros with the slashes are actually V8 emblems and the Cheiftan on the radio is the model, like the chevys were Bel Air, 210, and 150.

Starchief, has electric power windows, leather seats...287 strator streak v/8, Indian hood ornament should light up with light switch pulled on high beam only... nice find!

Original engine is a 287 cu.in. with 180 hp (2 bbl. carb.); 4 dr. wagon was a Chieftain, 2 dr. wagon was a Safari.

That little thing on top of the steering column looks a like a Trafficator. If you pulled to far into an intersection and couldn't see the traffic light, you would look into that device and be able to see the light. Or it's an Autronic Eye ( Headight Dimmer). This looks like a great resto for someone. To nice to Hot Rod.

It may be a Starchief. A Safari at that time was only a 2 door wagon. The hood Ornament is Chief Pontiac. He was a Canadian Indian chief. It's not Airplane related. And the Chrome bands are called Silver Streaks. The Hood Ornament was made of plastic and would light up. This was a top of the line for Pontiac in 55.

Na it had weak old tired springs

We had a 55 station wagon like this from 1955-1967...ewww how would you like to grow up in one of these, we did git a new chevy van in 1964 but our family never had any cool cars growing up..p.s. the pontiac was 3 on the tree...double ewwww. and robin egg blue.
