1953 Tonka COE Livestock Semi Truck Restoration
I bought this 1953 Tonka Livestock Semi Truck COE with a box of other vintage pressed steel trucks July of 2020. This truck was missing alot of pieces, the semi trailer floor, the tow pin, the trailer jack, a wheel and tire assembly, the rear tailgate and overall was in very bad shape! It had been repainted at one point in it's life and looked to be abused majority of it's life. This Tonka was in dire need of help.

This is no longer just a toy. It's a piece of history. It must be very satisfying for you to know that you are preserving a valuable artifact from our past. Well done.
I'm so in awe of people who can do things like this.
It hurts my heart to see toys so mangled and broken. It makes my heart happy to see them refurbished and shining like new once again. Great job.
I love watching the sandblaster at work. I find it most satisfying and relaxing.
Chip you ever bigger cars and trucks what you are doing is Great ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I believe that is the best restoration yet. From train wreck to showroom best.
I truly love all the methods you use to restore you project. As I always was told to do it right you need the right tools! I think you have and use the right tools skillfully. Makes the outcome outstanding it’s amazing that you have the tools to make dies and reproduce parts
You're going stright for milion subscribers 🙂 proud od your work 😀

Another thing I never knew about this toy livestock truck was that, it had a wooden floor, we nowadays make certain toys out of plastic or even aluminum.
Not all hero’s wear capes. This is incredible. I picture a kid in the right time frame opening this on Christmas or a birthday and it’s just amazing. Saving some of history

Another outstanding job!
I find it interesting that the 1930’s toys tested negative for lead paint but the ‘newer’ 1950’s toys were positive. Your work is top of the line and always a pleasure to watch from start to finish.

This was one of the oldest iron toy trucks; that have ever gotten restored, in spite of the fact that it had a 1953 manufacturing date. This iron toy truck had lead paint laced with.🚚 🛻 🚚 🎨 😳 😬 👏 😐 👌 🎨
I would love to see you restore a toy car that has been rusting for over 9 decades, that would truly be something
The worse the condition.....the sweeter the restoration! (My personal philosophy regarding the old guys I restore) Best wishes and stay healthy.
Another beautiful job!
Amazing attention to detail with those trailer floor rails.
Remarkable fix, she’s beautiful again!
It's amazing how you take a piece of junk and turn it into a work of art.
An exceptional restoration! That truck looks better than new. The Powdercoat makes a major difference. What an awesome surprise that would make for a child on Christmas. morning.
I am probably going to get fired from my job since I cannot stop watching these vids. Simply amazing work.
That’s what I call a pretty red truck, done by the one and only Chip ! Great job! Peace🤟❤️
Radical restoration! That truck made some kids very happy back in the day and now it's ready again. Excellent!
Thank you for giving the sheep a ride. I would've been disappointed if they hadn't. And the pickup at then made really laugh out loud. Thanks. You do an awesome job.

I'm not into 'boys toys' yet I can't help watching these wonderful restorations. It's like watching a painting being restored and coming back to the beauty it once was. You've got me hooked to seeing what you bring back to life. Cracked me up tossing the sheep into the back and having them come back as 'lamb chops'. 😄 Great sense of humor. 🙂

🇬🇧, 😆 - I was expecting him to take that livestock lorry to his junkyard and pull all the sheep out of it and chuck them into the lorry, with a sound effect of real sheep, shepherd, and sheep dog. 😁
Luar biasa sekali. Anak-anak pasti suka
THAT TRUCK LOOKS AWSOME.
wonderful friend
That tow truck is a really nice restoration! Awesome....😍 🥰👍
This one is definitely one of my favorites
Wow. Looks great.
Your attention to details is phenomenal. This was the first time I saw a truck’s paint test positive for lead. It was interesting to see the extra step you needed to take. This truck really needed a lot of restoration and you made it proud with your talent and skill. Most impressive!
Always immaculate finish. I love it.
Wow another awesome transformation. Truly beautiful 👍
It's not a toys. It's all our past. After your restoration the time coming back with new life and respect. Very well done!
That's impressive!!! AWESOME JOB!!!
Wow another beautiful restoration. I didn't think it would look so good.
Wow Chip! This is a thing of Beauty😃 Take care
Love watching you restore great toys, I remember my trucks when I was young!
Great job 👏👍👏👍👏
First time I have ever seen metal wheels like that on a Tonka. Also first time I have seen lead paint on one too. I enjoyed watching you fabricate the needed items, especially the floor. Looks really sharp with the metal slats! For some reason I can hear the sheep yelling "Wheeeee!" as you toss them in there. Excellent retoration!

My impression was that the lead was in the orange repaint (not the original red), but there was no practical way to remove one and not the other. In another video/channel, a toy car had acrylic over lead paint. The stripper used removed only the top layer, leaving the lead paint beneath untouched.
I think this was your best one. You put a lot of detail into it.
very nice work love the videos
Looks better than new!
Wow. Very impressed. Great job. Not many will take the time to do it right.
You do a great job on the old trucks and cars

Master craftsman at work again 🤸
Beautiful restoration!
I didn't finish watching yet, but i love the condition of this car! I see a lot of love from parent (probably dad) to kid. A lot of "don't worry, I will fix it" even if there were no parts, or they have no money, or father has no talent for fixes like this, but it's really positive:)

Now any BIG boy would be proud to have this in his collection..What a difference..Two years younger than me and glad to say I am no where as broken as this was lol..You did an amazing job of this 😀
Fantastic job
"Quality Lambchops" LOL Loved this restoration SO much! ♥
So glad to see you as you follow your passion of vintage toy resurrection!!! Impeccable technique!! I learn something new in each of your ventures. Thanks Man!!!
It is very good to use a few second-hand spare parts, at least so that you are sure that it suits your vehicle, and the result obtained with the white vinegar is just stunning, cool

Thank you! It took awhile to find them, but I would definitely rather have the used parts.
Love the care you take in all aspects of restoration and the comedic end to this vid was nice.
LOL I Love the ending!!!!!!!! Great job on the build too!!!
I love watching your videos
WOW! I didn't think you would be able to transform that one back to anything worth while but you did it. GREAT JOB.
By the way, I love your cat it’s the star of the show!
I have heard of vehicles held together with "bailing wire and spit", but this is the first one I've seen-outside of the old jalopy that the Beverly Hillbillies rode around in. Also, that particular toy would have been part of a collection, but boys can be rough to their toys. I played with my trucks until the wheels came off. I still miss the 32 Ford pickup, Willys Jeep and 65 stepside pickup. Great job Chip. Thank you for your interesting Sunday mornings.
Wow, this is one of the most beautiful Tonka restorations I have seen. From the colour to the filming, lighting to the finished product. Well done on all counts.
Awesome work. It was very difficult but you did it. More difficult, more beautiful work you do......
Nice wheels, very originals

I cannot put in to words the restoration I have just watched. That truck looked well beyond repair and ready for the Tonka Truck heaven. Best video by far, glad I came across your KZread channel. I don't think I can ever walk away from a task again. Thank you for putting pride back in that truck.
Superlative! Your restorative ingenuity is second to none. I'm in awe. I'll bet the sheep are happy, now that you have a truck to take them out for some extracurricular activity. (LOL) ;-)

Love the ending. My wife says you gotta be a bit more gentle with the sheep. Hahahaha. Lamb chops. Too funny. But let it be said, that as long as Chip has a sand blaster and powder coat paint system, there shall not be one disfigured toy be safe from amazing restoration. Chip, you are the best. I love the red and that floor is special. The dollies really impressed me too. Can't wait to see what you are doing next.

I found this channel by surfing the 'Recommended' videos and watched this particular video. Man, talk about a heartwarming, emotional memory. I have SUCH a massive appreciation for these old toys. They are the same as what my older, only brother (💓R.I.P.) played with and what I played with after him growing older. I'll keep some tissues around as I delve into the videos of this channel. 👍 💓👌
Possibly the best “tonka” style restoration To date! Beautiful work!
This one was impressive.
It's a big junkyard and we have many more episodes to enjoy
Stunning work. I lived very near Mound, Minnesota growing up. Cold! That's why they had great toys...something to do inside five months out of the year.
I like your axle bolt solution, very elegant looking.
I wanna see the ramp truck next
Beautiful work as always!
Very cool, turned out GREAT!! 👍👍👍
