Hi, Alaska Trucker. Good video and I thank you for sharing - - - - but - - - - - the 'bitzer' origin shows. The radiator surround and the main frame rails are from a PRE-1950s machine while the transmission is from a POST-1950 machine - 1950 to 1953. In 1950, the 2U series D8 was given what was called a 'hard nose' which was a one-piece radiator surround that was a lot more robust than the one on your machine. At this time, the main frame rails also went from U-section as in your machine to full box section rails and the transmission was changed from the pre1950s 'slide bar' transmission to the 2-stick arrangement that you have in your unit. Again, thanks for sharing. Just my 0.02. you have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

I think the ol' girl has been repaired and pieced together several times over the last 3/4 of a century, but yes, you're very observant and obviously know your way around "Big Yellow Stuff". Its ironic, but the foundry worker that casted this actual block has recently stood next to the machine. Pretty amazing, really: Thanks for watching!

I don't know where you all reside in AK but that sho/ across the exhaust was spectacular. I spent three wonderful years in Fairbanks at Ft Wainwright and did quite a bit of wondering around and saw some of the most beautiful countryside ever but nothing like that. Just spectacular!

I also was stationed at Fort Wainwright. Always love seeing the Northern lights. You have to see them in person to really enjoy them.

Nice piece of kit. Thank you. Loved the startup. Seems to be in excellent mechanical condition with consistent control responses. Good workout for the driver, I suspect.

that looks alot like an old 2u d8 my dad’s friend Tim Neal had for years behind his house over off Vine road in Wasilla, almost the same cab but as i recall that cab was a little wonky, pitched back more on one side than the other. it had belonged to Morrison Knudsen company before my dad owned it, he traded Tim the dozer for a new Ford Fairlane, Tim’s wife was upset about losing the new car. 😅
