that jag is the same year and looks exactly like an excellent refin i sold at a guitar show in portland in the late 90,s

How cool is that.....I kinda liked the Jag...Man that low powered twin wow I just picked up a 61 Princeton tremolo and am loving it Was almost going to get a tweed tho Hmmm maybe a champ

I always wonder in videos like this why the new owner doesn't play the guitar. I did notice when he picked it up he never strummed it or played a lick which is the first thing I do when I pick up any guitar to see how it feels and sounds unplugged.

10:18 bypass capacitors and filter caps are NOT original. But those are changes made for quality of the amp's life. Old electrolytics belong in the bin.

@@levigarrett7931 i caught that too, overall the amp was really straight up. so many are buggered with, i guess 4k is the number for a straight one. at first i thought 3500 would be fair but the more you think about it, its pretty rare in that condition.

Yep cathode bypass caps and main filter Caps replaced , original caps of this era would be Mallory in a brown paper sleeve

Been wondering about doing something like this too. Selling a bunch to get that one. He can’t have gotten a lot of money for the guitars he sold - I’m guessing maybe 25-30k tops

not a lot of comments. We all must be speechless :)

Not a bad outcome - he gets the guitar he wants and other people get to buy some of the gear he was stockpiling. Looks like the five guitars that he traded are on the website for a total of USD$35,000 and the Deluxe (which looks like the one that the restaurant guy was supposed to buy but it looks like he didn't) and the oxblood Super are there for USD$9500. So...around $45,000 plus whatever the Pro went for. Pushing $50,000 on the trades...he must have paid a fair bit more on top of that for the Nocaster. Surely? Anyway, better he has one guitar he loves than a handful of guitars and amps he might not even be touching, let alone playing.

I kust found this video. I have an all original nocaster with original case and original paperwork and the ad in the window. He bought it. And hated it. So he put it in the closet in 1951 and never played it again. And asid e from Me Lonnie and my mom. Noone esle have ever played is.sssdddd

the 50s tele I played just a tele, everyone spoke about it like it was a religious relic, but it wasn't, it was just a tele

I don't think that's the point, my friend. Its not necessarily the sound. Its more about the fact that it is what it is, and its exactly WHAT they say it is. You may be the type of person to say, "So what, bla,bla,bla" or.."It sounds like any other tele" oh wait,you already said that, see?! See what I mean there,bud?😅 Its an uncirculated guitar from the 50s, all original, if you can't understand how goddamn special that is, then this sort of thing isn't for you, run back to your bedroom and hack it out on your Squire Strat through your surprising good sounding line 6 amp🤣😂 Go learn an easy srv lick and hopefully by showing off your newly learned lick will make you seem cooler than you are and possibly get you laid. To each his own but for me i buy houses,buildings that triple in value over 10-15 yrs not guitars.thats why hollywood stars buy REAL ESTATE not guitars.i hav done it already.i didnt invent the wheel i just used the same formula as ppl in the know use.im not knocking buying vintage,the newer guitars of today ate a whole lot cheaper and are more reliable,easier to play and sound almost as good sometimes better

The video clearly explains that this Nocaster has a personal, historical connection with the new owner and his family which is very important to him. So there's that, which differentiates this purchase from a real estate investment. Plus, for those who are focused on the money, the guitar is extremely likely to continue to appreciate respectably as we have seen with early blackguards for quite a long time now.

For the guitar players who make music for a living this is just another tele,its the guitar dealers that create the fantasy around it. Dealers built up these guitars to be “works of art”.teles are parts guitars,great guitars but bolt together butcher blocks.giv me a break

Yeah, and if you're willing to do just a bit of parts upgrades, the Mojotone kits will get the amps happening for a lot less than the originals or the custom shop or the boutique stuff. Mercury Magnetics transformers and a few F&T caps will do it. Do your homework Do the work You are there

Romanticizing about the 50's, and all the help cats that probably played those old guitars all down through the years is cool and fun. Letting your imagination take flights of fancy into the golden days of yesteryear does no harm, and maybe even Sparks a bit of creativity. .........But then, WHAM!!! Back to the grim meat hook reality of the bottom line, and costs being whatever the market will bear. collectors, brokers, hoarders, and other types who don't even play guitar buy them up at any price and lock them away so that no musician can own or play them again continue to drive up the cost to the point where the deed to your house is an even trade for a Les Paul or old L series Strat. Huh? What? Check the sugar cubes under the blacklight before you drop them in your coffee! If the mushrooms turn blue, don't put them on the pizza! The trendy golden glow that vintage instruments had a few years ago is getting a little tarnished by all of the idolatry and guitar porn. It's time for a creative alternative. This involves not going back to the 50's, it just means returning to the standards of quality and workmanship that made these things so highly prized in the first place. It's happening on a small scale, but what is needed are affordable instruments that inspire the burning desire to play the way the old ones did. Common sense ain't real popular when yer daydreamin', is it?
