1951 Fender "Nocaster" Featuring Nick Mardon

Музыка

Trevor is back in the shop and we've got a great guitar to share with you all! A 1951 Fender "Nocaster" as we like to call them, with a refinished body and a few bits of maintenance done over the years, but wonderful instrument nonetheless! This is a lightweight for the era at 7lbs 6oz and comes to us with its original case. After Trevor fills you in on all the details we have Nick Mardon plugging it in to a 1967 Vibrolux Reverb to give you an idea of how it sounds.
For more information on the guitar or amp, please give us a call or check out:

Very nice sounding guitar! Yes, it is an important in-between part of the Fender history. It actually (and technically) is a "1951 Fender" pre-Telecaster guitar. Since the late sixties into the seventies, no one in our vintage community nor historians ever called them with this present dealer name. The factory simply trimming the prior Broadcaster decal due to Gretsch's telegram about copyright on their old Broadkaster banjo and their great drums was a necessity of legalities. It simply says what it is... The 1951 Fender guitar! Which is one of the coolest vintage guitars ever built!

Damn fine playing Nick. Respectfully, you that Nocaster and that Vibrolux sound truly amazing. Wish I could’ve heard that in person and felt those floorboards vibrating. Welcome back Trevor, we missed you! And congratulations!

Boy was I shocked to watch your video! You have s/n 1034. In January. I picked up a pristine Nocaster s/n 1035. It looks brand new, not a screw turned on it. I don't know if there's a channel route. It came with the matching amp, a Deluxe. And they both sound incredible and it plays great.

Come on guys there was no hassle with Gretsch there was no Cease and Desist there was one letter from Fred Gretsch to Leo Fender pointing out they used that name and asking him to stop. Which he did. There’s zero need to create drama .

Ha! At least Trevor didn't say that it was a lawsuit, which is so commonly claimed. The ECG guys certainly know that wasn't the case. And for those interested, the telegram from Gretsch to Don Randall stated, in part, "We request immediate assurance you are abandoning the use of this name." Now, one could very reasonably assume what may have come next had Fender not agreed to do so, but fortunately it never amounted to anything further.

That’s the guitar that was on Facebook and I posted skepticism regarding it’s authenticity. The post did not indicate it was a refin, but the neck seems to have zero wear. Sorry, but I’m still skeptical. Congrats on your new family member.

Thanks man! Yeah I would take everything on facebook with a grain of salt! Luckily we have a world class shop/authentication team and happy to verify it is in fact 1951 Fender Nocaster with a full body and neck refinish. Thanks for tuning in brother!

Personal view : having owned a’ ‘69, a ‘60, a ‘55 and a ‘53, I remain convinced that nothing ressembles more a $70k Tele than a, say $2k Tele . This is specific to Teles . Strats and Gibsons are another matter .
