1950's Downtown Prince George, BC (Hans Roine)

This video is from a series of 16mm films by local Prince George businessman, Hans Roine. Mr. Roine was active in the logging and lumber industry in the Northern Interior of BC in the middle of the 20th century, and was instrumental in establishing the use of pine as a construction material. Mr. Roine recorded the changes in the industry on film as well as other social and economic subjects of the period. This film captures the magic of downtown Prince George, George Street and Third Avenue, in the 1950's. Do you remember any of these downtown businesses?
