I get the feeling Jay is specifically using these videos as a future preservation tool. One day sadly Jay will be gone, and his cars auctioned off (hopefully on many decades). You KNOW that each of these videos will be played with the car, and will be treasured by the future owner. It's almost like Jay is speaking directly into the future.

As a Brit I have only seen glimpses of his other life as a comedian and talk show host. I'm really impressed with Jay's reverence and respect for the great engineers, designers and renovators who dedicate their lives to creating and restoring these wonderful historic vehicles. Jay comes across as a genuine guy who sees himself as curator and custodian of some of the worlds most coveted vehicles. The result is a very watchable series, like a book I just can't put down!

I watch these videos every week and I see all these negative comments making fun of Jay and making fun of other commenters and it really kind of makes me mad. He doesn't have to share these things with us. It's not like he needs the fame and I bet with production costs this channel is only breaking even. We even get to see things when they don't go perfect. So if you're the kind of person who likes to leave angry comments, do what you got to do. But please take a second to stop appreciate all the hard work Jay’s team goes through so we can appreciate the vehicles and the people who made them.

I'm sure he was cringing from that scrape that they put on the underside of the gullwing, but it was neat seeing him give the "no big deal". The centre of gravity is probably very similar to a big front wheel drive car, so the suspension would be fine. Think lorry suspension, really heavy duty stuff. As far as the design decision of making it with such a huge overhang... Crash safety would be like if you put an egg on the nose of a brick and drove it around like that, lol :P That's taking into account the materials and design styles of the time. A modern version of that transporter could be as safe as any new lorry if you really wanted to make it.

Jay, if you're reading this, I just wanted to say how much admiration I have for you. And it's not the usual admiration for a Hollywood star because I really don't have any admiration for any of those people. It's admiration for what a normal, regular person you are despite being a Hollywood star. I admire your love for vehicles, your knowledge of them and the way you present this show. You must have had numerous fights with executives who have wanted to hide the occasional imperfections that crop up (like the scratch in today's episode). These people always want to present a sanitized, squeaky clean image of life, even while presenting a reality show. I want you to know that there are people out there (I am one) who greatly appreciate the fact that you show it like it was filmed..like it occurred. A true reality show. I watch every episode. Keep up the good work. There are very few people I subscribe to on KZread but I will always be a subscriber to this show. ...a Canadian fan in St. Catharines, Ontario

People don't think of future values on what seems junk. Heck I see things all the time that I trashed as a kid and it's now worth something. I have a friend in his late 70s that is a real car guy and saved many things but he is really sad to think of when he was a kid how many of those old cars he cut up with a torch for a guy that sold scrap metal. They wouldn't have more than scrap value for 30-50 years. Think about what you throw away today as junk and what it could be worth in 50 years. Then again in 50 years it might still be junk.

This has to be one of the best Jay Leno's Garage episodes ever. While I am not necessarily the someone who is a big Mercedes-Benz fan, that transporter is really, really cool. It is such a shame that Mercedes-Benz didn't see the value of preserving the original one but I am so happy for all the individuals that put their time and money into this replica so that it could be enjoyed an appreciated by those who didn't get a chance to see the original.

This attention to detail, passion and love for this machines reflected in the drawings and pictures treasured that were showed, makes this episode and the show a great example of the accomplishments of mankind, not only for the making of this machines, but the celebration and caring for them, so watching jay with his glasses showing those pics was pretty sentimental great thing to watch. so thank you it really was special!

What a great channel, and I think what KZread was really made for... Giving respect and praise where it is due, showcasing the quality of work from the past. Jay Leno is not only a master of all things mechanical, but a truly wonderful ambassador to deliver his amazing and abundant knowledge to us all. A sincere thanks and a big checkered flag to a real winner of a man.

Sir Leno, loved the car loader thank you for sharing it. I was scared every time you opened or closed the engine cover because it looked as if you were going to take out the back of the cab. Did it feel as if you were driving a teeter-totter with the wheels so far back, it looked as if you were bouncing pretty good. Again - thanks for showing us this amazing project It was a pleasure to watch and your love for the carrier showed through.

Back up to 12:25 There is no scratch. But it happened right where Jay was supposed to be watching so he has no one to blame but himself. Note that there is a break in the video so some expletives were probably uttered in the interim before he resumed his talk-show host unflappability.

Jay reminds me so much of my uncle talking about vintage cars. It’s awesome that people like this are out there preserving these classic machines and feats of engineering. If Jay or Sergei weren’t out there putting the work in this would have probably stayed a corgi model or a brick of steel that Mercedes just crushed. Fantastic show.
